Eating alone

There are times where people prefer to eat with some company to chat with, for it not to be so boring while eating. But, there are also those who prefer to eat alone. I admit that I, most of the time eats alone. It's not so bad. But, it's still much better to eat with someone to keep you company. It just makes the atmosphere more enjoyable. Don't you think so? But, there are people who dislike being with someone while eating. Perhaps it's because they feel irritated about the idea? What do you think mylotters?

I don't like to eat alone. But, it depends on the location. I don't mind eating alone at home, because i can watch some TV. However, if we are talking about a hawker center or a food court, i most probably would not eat alone. Unless i am really really really hungry and i'll make it a quick one. I think it's really weird to eat alone especially in the food court. Definitely, it's more enjoyable eating with people but sometimes we just want to enjoy our food in peace. That's when it becomes irritable when eating with others.

It depends on the situation I am on I suppose. If Im with someone and we both wnat to eat I certainly do not mind the company. If I am out on my own, say shopping, I also do not mind going for something to eat when I am alone either.

I think that eating alone sucks because first of all if you eat alone you wont bond with anyone and eating alone seems creepy...

I love eating with others. It appears to be so lonely when you are eating alone. You are correct, eating alone is very boring. And I feel like even if the food is not so good, you will still enjoy eating it and even be able to finish a lot.

yes. We have a variety of people. As for me, I do not like eating with others. At the same time , if need be i may eat alone also. But one point while eating--in India -- we use to tell -- we should not talk -- the idea behind that is if an argument comes in between one or the other person will neglect the food and get away, spoiling the food. In India spoiling the food is considered not a good sign. Buffet parties are aimed at bringing people together. But in the present day world--people rush, eat and pack off and go. What is the culture in your country? I know the capital is Manila where we have the headquarters of Asian Development Bank. I do not know anything more than this. have a good day

Eating someone will increase your appetite especially when that someone really loves to eat. I, myself don't want to eat alone but sometimes I don't have a choice but to eat alone. Eating alone makes you a loner and it's so quite that it makes your appetite spoiled.

I do not like eating alone at all. I feel lonely when I eat alone, also kinda pathetic that you have no one to share your meal with. But whenever I do eat alone I sometimes cannot finish my food. Eating is much more appetizing when the experience is shared with friends and family.

It is alright for me to eat alone or to eat with some company. When you eat alone, you get to eat fast since your attention is not divided to different things. When you eat with company, you get to talk and that certainly would take a few moments from chewing food and so on. You get to appreciate the food that you eat more when you're just by yourself, but you can also do that with anyone with you while eating, as long as the topic that is being discussed would be the food that you're eating. There are probably those people that prefer to eat alone due to some reason that made them think that eating alone is much better. There would also b epeople who like to have some company because they have been use to that kind of setting even at home. Eating etiquette can also be considered. Anyway, if I would choose, I'd prefer to have some company when I eat, even if I don't talk as much while eating. Listening to them talk is quite amusing on it's own. (^_^")

To each his own I suppose. I leave alone so most of the time, I eat alone and I'm used to it . Even in the office, sometimes I eat alone simply because my tummy's schedule is not aligned with theirs . But it's ok. I'm fine with or without companions. One thing's for sure. Since I can eat even when I'm alone, I won't go hungry.

Eating alone is good for digestion. - Eating in a group may cause nausea.
Ya when i was very young, i eat alone, it was quite lonely, but within few years in older teens, i start to eat with packs of friends upto 5-9 people which is noisy and crowdy but it quite fun sometime because basically are jokers and idiots1, but it can be quite tense with the noisy environment, when going to adulthood, things change wish to eat alone or 1-2 friends sometime, because need to disengage the brains with daily problems in family and work place.

Hi, generally during lunch on a workday, I prefer to eat with 1 or 2 other persons failing which I do enjoy my own company and eat alone at the nearby eateries near my office. There are however social occasions when one needs to eat with a group of people and make small talk and it really depends on whether one is comfortable with the small group or not. But I do not think I can eat alone everyday coz it can be quite boring. For dinner, it is normally a family affair and occasions to catch up with my young nephews.

I think it depends on how you were brought up...not sure about it though, but since I grew up eating with my family during meals, I don't like eating alone...I'm used to having someone to talk to while eating...here in Philippines most people talk and eat, and eat and talk... I have yet to meet a person who likes to eat alone and dislikes company...

I can't tell you why, but I do prefer to eat alone. I just love to sit down with my favorite foods and eat all by myself. I still haven't figured out why because I am a very social and outgoing person. I love people and find just about everyone fascinating. I talk to strangers everywhere I go..in elevators, on the street, in stores etc. I love to sit and chat and have coffee or some other drink with company, but when it comes to eating I rather take my plate and go sit all by myself. lol

I love eating alone.....i can concentrate very well on the joys of eating something really good....but yeah sometimes its good to be with company.... but being with someone somehow robs me the full satisfaction of food consumption...and they say that any conversation is not good during a meal and i guess there is a magical secret to this.....I wish i could eat alone more.....

Meal times have always been to me a social time for families, coworkers, meetings, friends, etc. If I go into a restaurant it is because I am with someone. If I am alone I will order take away. The reason is because I am sitting in the restaurant for a reason besides eating. Talking and socalizing while waiting for your food is a common practice because what else is there to do? There have been times where myself and I have seen others do this as well, we bring a book or laptop or magazine to read while we eat. I think I want to enjoy my food slowly and the only way to do this is to either read while eating or enjoy conversation with others. I always get tempted to stare and look around when I am alone in a restaurant. Plus I eat faster which makes me eat more. So I much rather have the company. Now, if I am home I have no problem eating alone. Mostly because I can watch TV or be on the computer while I am eating. Those things keep me busy and focused so I do not eat too fast or too much.
