Heres the scenario..
A king gets locked inside a prison, having two doors. One of the door leads to freedom and the other would lead him to his death. To his aid he has two magical idols in his prison; who can "speak" and lead him to his destiny.
But beware,... "one of the two tells the truth and the other one is a lier".
And to add to his misery, our poor king has not even the slightest idea of which one of the two would lie to him.
Now lets put a little bit of suspense in the situation.
The king can ask only "one question" from either of the two idols, concerning the door leading to his freedom.
If he asks the truthful one, he will attain his freedom. But if he asks it from the one who lies, he will definitely be dead. What should he do ?
Only a "specific question", when asked, can lead him to his freedom ..
Go on, try your luck.

Now this is only a guess and though I am guessing I am still unsure. His question would be, now why should I believe you over the other?
I am close and or way off. lol

To be honest,.. you are way off.
I think you forgot one crucial condition mentioned in the question, that the king can ask only one question.
If he asks whom he should believe over the other, he will certainly be doomed, because then his quota of single question will be over; forget about asking the right door. Besides he doesn't know which one is a lier, so both will say "trust me".
Sorry Qt-pie, but nice try. I believe you can do better. ;)

This is really a teaser and although I saw the labrynth film you got me stumped, I went as far as asking my boyfriend too and he too is stumped so only a guess again. I would say since it is a 50% chance then he is better off staying put. lol.
Or wait to add a twist, he would ask what is on the other side. lol

I'm pretty sure I've got two questions that would save the king, one always yielding the lie, the other always yielding the truth - if you want me to check with you privately, please post a means of contact. Alternatively one could try praying the National Anthem (British, not Jana Gana Mana) ... on second thoughts, it mightn't work ...

Which is the misprint, jing or king? praying our National Anthem would certainly not help a jing. But whatever, if our hero prayed to God and then guessed wrong, at least he'd have the satisfaction of dying without having engaged with idols ...
But the two questions to which I refer are alternatives. Either, asked on its own, will save the jing/king, if the idols can be relied upon to live up to the reputation you have given them in the riddle.

I don't have idea but if I'm the king, I'll ask if who among them is the liar. The one who answers "he is not the liar" would probably be the liar.
