What's the real motive of these superpower countries?

http://www.dailyglobal.com/2011/05/who-discussing-future-of-smallpox-virus-samples/ Smallpox has been eradicated before the turn of 1980's and there has been no report of its outbreak ever since. I am curious, even skeptic, why still keep the stock. It is more perilous to keep it for future use than to just destroyed it once and for all.

I don't know if we can ever be 100% sure it is totally eraticated. Are you afraid it is being kept for a future weapon?

Yes. Or if not used as a weapon, they will use it to threaten. As far as WHO is concerned, the said strain has been eradicated.

I understand the World Health group thinks it is, but can they be positivly sure? I don't think they or anyone can be. It's really sad we have to mistrust others and the harm they would do. Yet that is reality :( I
