You need to make sure you take your contacts out every night. Never sleep in them. You can still get corneal abrasions. When you sleep with them in you risk a corneal ulcer which is much worse and will hurt when you are exposed to any lights. My sister had one of them and she was forced to wear glasses for months. I normally wear contacts because I don't have a good pair of glasses and am pretty active sometimes (did gymnastics). I got an eye injury that would have been avoided with glasses wear someone threw a piece of hard roll into my right eye. I couldn't see immediately or everything was pink. Went to urgent care to check for an abrasion, but they only checked one eye. I should have made them check the other eye. They gave me ointment and said to come back in two days. Three days later I called an ophthalmologist and told them what happened over the phone. She said to come in right away. Turned out I had a hyphema from a tear in the iris, and blood at the bottom of my eye. She said I needed to see a retinal specialist within the hour so I got a ride (I was afraid to ask for a ride to urgent care again which is why I called the ophthalmologist which was in walking distance). I had a tear in the retina at the bottom of my eye and needed laser to fix it. I'm extremely myopic and the doctor said my retina could have detached at any moment and then I would have been blind in one eye. I also might get cataracts or glaucoma because of the injury so I need to get my eye checked every year. Glasses are definitely safer.

Well, I wear glasses no matter what since I have the option of taking them off my face as much as I want and for many times during the day and night. I never subscribe to contact lenses since a pair that will accommodate my eye condition will fetch a high price - practically four times the cost of glasses. I have heard of some eye problems about contact lenses and this encourage me to not replace my glasses. I have this fear of leaving them on and being neglectful, so I don't even try. As for aesthetic purposes, I pick frames that are trendy and accentuates my face so even if I am wearing one, I still look good (and I can still take off). Final note, I won't sacrifice my eyesight so that I can just look good.

I don't use contact lenses and my eyes are okay, which means I have a 20/20 vision. I think you can still look fashionable even if you're wearing glasses. It only depends on how you handle it and to how you put your makeup on. I haven't tried wearing contacts, because my friends who were wearing contact lenses complain most of the time. But they're still using it up until now.

I wear glasses and never tried contact lenses before. It it because I'm also afraid to wear one due to the side effects that goes with it. If not used or maintained properly, I guess it might scratch and damage our eyes. This is just my idea and never consulted an optometrist or ophthalmologist yet regarding this. If you want to try lenses, maybe it's better to consult one so you will be guided accordingly
