Basically, an iPod is a device whose primary function is playing music, while an iPad is a tablet, which is something close to a computer. Maybe you want to know the difference between an Ipod touch and an iPad: both of them are touch screen, but of course an iPad will let you perform many more operations than an iPod (which is, in fact, designed to be easy to carry with you at any time, so that you can listen to music almost everywhere). I'm not sure about iPod touch, but for sure iPhone and iPad share the same OS, and that's why many apps are available on both devices. Hope this is clear... should you have any questions, please ask! :)

the Ipod is mostly for musical listening only; well that and radio too; but that's the audio item; the Ipad is a mini laptop mac style; you can read, surf the web, take pictures, listen to music, watch movies, play games, etc etc with it. plus the ipod is smaller than the Ipad.

i think the difference, not to mention the size, is the memory capacity and the type of applications to be utilized. oh and, you couldn't call with the iPod. you could have web access to both, though (err.. some iPods only). at least that's what i thought. i had an iPod once.

I personally own both an iPod and an iPad. The difference between the two is the size and that the iPad App Store has more apps since you could use iPhone + iPod applications on the iPad.
