Scottie Pippen: Jordan vs. LeBron

Scottie Pippen just recently opened a can of worms when he said that Michael Jordan was the best scorer in the NBA but that LeBron James is the best all around player in the NBA. As a team mate of Michael Jordan in the 2 3peat bulls team/dynasty, one cannot just ignore this comment. What do you think about Pippen's claim? Why would it be accurate or not? I personally believe that LeBron James could be the greatest all-around player in the NBA once his career is done, but at this point in time, he has ways to go and rings to win. he definitely has the gift, the talent and the people around him in Miami to help him get there. Will he get there is the question. What do you think?

I think that Scottie Pippen talked too early. LeBron seems to be "choking" so that instead of steeping up and showing his best on these last important games, he just scored 8 points and seems to have re-relegated himself to a setup man role instead of the leader. The result is that Heat blew a big lead and lost Game 2, while Game 4 is as equally pathetic and LeBron is virtually invisible. Jordan never degenerated into 8 points and never choked in any of his games. Pippen is really hurting his legacy with all these jealousy tirades. He should just accept the fact that he was never a leader, but he is the best support for Jordan and one of the best players of Chicago Bulls.

I agree it is too early in LeBron James' career to discuss his legacy. He is 28 years ole for crying out loud! Scottie Pippen and NBA writers have been in his bandwagon or against it ever since he was a rookie! Even before that when he was still in high school! You are right, he should play better in this finals. It appears that Dwayne Wade is more interested in the title than either Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James with the way Wade is playing. Off Topic: I do wonder why Wade is never compared to the games greatest? He is a champion and an NBA FInals MVP after all. Not better than Michael Jordan perhaps, but certainly better than some players whose name are being mentioned. If he wins his second finals MVP, will he be considered now?

its a possibility since lebron's arsenal of talents are greater than jordan's. but its too early for this discussion since lebron cant even be better than kobe at the moment. although at 27, lebron's skills are better than jordan's and bryant's when they were 27 years old. he is still young though, MJ achieved greatness at age 29 with pip as his reliable backup. he has 2 reliable "buddies" in times of trouble so greatness in LBJ will only be year/s away, its early to say it ATM but its a possibility. kobe had it in an earlier age but we all know shaq at his prime is the worst opponent a team can ever had.

It is too early I guess, Pippen may have been looking at the possibility, I think he clarified it in his tweets. But you are right, he has the ability and skill set to be better than Jordan and Bryant. but at this point it seems that he is not there yet. A win in the Finals against Dallas would be another step to whether he comes closer to the conversation or farther.
