We have plenty of people hired from the province. Some, who used to eat veggies, but, upon arriving here in the city, became very choosy! It's very annoying, especially because meat is expensive. I made a rule that every night, we will have veggies for supper. You know what? It is either they will eat less, or they will not eat at all. If our breakfast and lunch have meat with veggies in it, they will surely pick every meat out and leave all the veggies, sometimes without even the sauce. No matter how nice we are to them, no matter how many times we remind them that veggies are important, they will only eat the veggies if we are present at the dining table. How annoying!

Don't they know that vegetables are healthier? But I do understand them to some extent. I grew up with having vegetables as viand most of the time. We only had meat once in a blue moon as it was expensive. Also, if there's meat, it was only to be mixed with vegetables and not be cooked as is. So when I was already working and buying my own food, my options for viand were mostly meat and fish because to me, I've had enough vegetables to last me a lifetime already
. Of course I came to a point where I missed the vegetables so I went back to them.
Please don't change your rule for supper to give in to their whims though. If they don't want to eat, then fine but if they get sick as a consequence, then they have to pay for their medicines.
And hopefully, they'll be able to realize that a few people are priviledged enough to have decent meals, and free for that matter.1 person likes this

Yes, we are sticking with the rule that supper is veggie time. After all, it's their health we are worried about.

It really gets annoying when some people would choose what to eat especially if meal has already been prepared and served. I hated it back then when some of my house mates wouldn't even touch the food I made especially if it's a simple vegetable viand or something like that. I always value food especially since there are a lot of children who couldn't even get a decent meal in a day. As kids, we were taught not to waste food and to eat what is served to us especially when we're dining with other people or at other people's house.

hi! it is really annoying to know such situation like that, i am from province too and i grew up eating veggies, now that i am here in the city, no matter what, i want vegetable to be always present during meal time. for me there were only two possible reason, one is, maybe they were used to it or maybe the other way around. sometimes we could not blame them because as we know, in the province, especially on the remote areas where u need to walk or travel for how many hours just to buy some. or although market is near, but no money to buy some...

hello LilacFaye,
I also experienced the same so I asked Mom if the people from their province really don't eat veggies and she said no most of them are lucky if they will eat 3 times a day then I told Mom why they become choosy then?
They even don't eat the excess viand on the next meal
every meal should be a different one.
So Mom decided to give them food allowance let them buy or cook their own meal since then they stop being choosy
happy mylotting

I think if they just don't want to agree to the terms of the employment then they should not have the privilege of working for you anymore. I am sure there are many other people who would be willing to compromise for your terms in exchange for a job.

Yes, they are staying here for free too. That's why their attitude towards food annoys me. They don't know how to appreciate it. Most people don't have the budget to eat 3x a day.

We used to live in a place where cooking was not allowed and we relied on the mess for our food , we also used to skip meals now and then and eat out just for a change. But I can understand how inconvenient it is when people are not eating what you are supplying. why not declare the one supper as meat day and rest of the days as veggie days that way they also will know when meat is going to be served and when they can eat out and may be ave an attendance for the meal days , like we used to have in mess we had to tell them a day prior if we are going to eat meal next day or if we are skipping. That was convenient for both of us.
