Have you ever laughed at anyone that fell in public?

Today, I got out of the car and since it's near the curb, I stood on the curb and I guess the curb was greasy or something cause of streak marks, I fell on my knee. A freaking LADY was laughing at me. I literally was like WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING AT? And, she shut up. Seriously, how mean is that. I never laugh at people who fall.. it's more of are you okay. And, if you do laugh, don't laugh in front of people! Do you laugh at people if they fall?

Oh my,are you alright? That's the reality infatuatedbby! Some are really mean! Most are not! That's the real world! I believe I will also do the same as you did to the woman. My first instinct would be staring at her! I wouldn't laugh at someone who fall, really! I might help the person instead of laughing. I believe my first word would be "Oh my! Are you okay?"

Happy you're just fine. The woman must have realized what she has done! Good thing you asked her.

I had some similar experience last year, when I went to visit someone in a construction place, where the cement was just newly mixed with water on the ground at the gate.I called the person, and was told to his room. When I passed the gate,I didn't notice the cement on the ground,so I walked on it.The result was that I got much cement and earth on my trousers. The gate watcher could not help himself laughing. At the very moment,I could feel that he must be laughing at me.So I got a little angry with him at first. However,I controlled myself quickly, and said to myself that why should I get angry on such small affairs. Well,in our life,we should never laugh at others, because sometimes we will make someone embarassed. At the same time, there's no need to feel uncomfortable when someone is laughing at us,because such feelings may lead bad things to worse.

That lady is so mean and unsocial one. She should not laugh hat time. In fact she suppose to run to you and ask are you OK or not. I never laugh when people get hurt or fall down. I go near them to help them if possible.

Falling is not a laughing matter. So why would i laugh when i see someone fall. Instead, i would immediately assist her/ him in any way i can.

i feel bad laughing. I happened to my mom the other day on a big street and no one helped her. I would have helped someone of they fell. She was wearing high heals walking to a bank where she works and she messed up he whole knee and leg. I felt very bad for her. So i know i would not laugh at someone if they fell.

Her reaction is more an aberration.I wouldn't laugh.I have also noticed that where i live people are quick to help those who have hurt themselves or had an accident.I think this person you are alluding to is a mean one.You were right to give her a piece of your mind.

Hi infatuatedbby, Oh my are you okay? I hope you did not get hurt and or bruising. Maybe you will be a bit sore tomorrow as often it takes a day to feel the pain. As for the woman how rude can that be! No I would not laugh because someone fell, and seriously what if it was her. I mean I can understand if you were goofing off and you were friends and everyone laughed including you. That is terrible and hope she does not have any bad luck herself.

ok this just reminded me of an incident we had in school before couple years. One of my close friends was standing on a chair doing some funny stuffs (i don't actually remember what), anyway suddenly she fell off the chair. It looked so funny that all of us started laughing and totally forgot to help her up. She got mad LOL Anyway yeah it's mean laughing at someone but some cases can't be helped.

I have never lauged at anyone falling when I was in public. Like you, I'd be concerned if they were ok. However, I have to admit when I watch 'America's Funniest Videos' for some reason people falling is funny. I don't know why....

I think it is ok to laugh at people's clumsiness. If your friend tripped on something, as long as you see that it is not something serious where they are injured, then I believe it is fine. There was this time me and my friend were talking and this girl walked past us and started slipping on the ice and fell. She looked like she was fine, but regardless we helped her get up. As long as it is not intentionally meant to demean someone, I find laughing perfectly fine.

I am sorry but I could never do that. I would feel so badly for the person who fell and I would be concerned that they may be hurt, even if they said they were fine they can injure themselves and not know it at first or if they are not injured at all, they could be very embarrassed by the incident. I think it is very inconsiderate and childish to laugh at such a thing.

hi, actually i hate those people who laugh when someone fall in the floor,so that for me i will never laugh when i see someone fall, and its more better if we help that person or just by asking that person if he/she get hurt or just ask "are you okay" rather than to laugh.

I have done that before. I guess I just find thing like that funny. I even laugh when I slip and fall. I think it's just human nature. I know I would laugh but I would go over to the person and help them up. I am not heartless.

Hi my friend, how is your knee, have you got any hurts. When ever you keep a step, first look at it and then proceed your stepping. Many fall only when they lose their balance and no one falls willingly. I frank tell you, when someone falls down from a steps or while falling down from a cycle, i immediately feel to laugh but within myself and not show my laughing's towards them. Because they may feel worried as someone laughing at them.

I appreciate your opinion on that kind of situation. It is rude to laugh at others fall or some similar embarrassed occasion, especially in front of that unlucky guy. Even it is really hilarious that you can not help laughing about it, just turn back and make sure the guy doesn't notice that... Because it does hurt if you disregard other's self-respect.

It always depends on the situation, I think. Granted it is truly a social code that you should not laugh at an accident that has just happened. But sometimes it can happen. People nowadays are so used to slapstick humor that when they see a simple accident happen in front of them, they tend to think they are still watching television or Youtube and their first instinct is to laugh aloud. I don't find slapstick funny though, so I don't think the lady was nice at all. Nor is she polite. I am definitely not giving her an excuse here, because there is no excuse. I am just saying it has become a 'natural' social development. At the very least the woman should have said sorry for laughing aloud. I'm glad you took offense and spoke up though. I hope this won't happen again!
