WANTED: Teachers

Philippines
June 3, 2011 3:22am CST
If you are reading this topic now, you must be interested to work as a teacher, right? Or why else would you click this discussion? (lol) Anyway, it's the 3rd day of the month of June and that means the summer vacation is over for the students and the teachers too! This month marks the day of a busy and hectic schedule of school teachers. Maybe at this time, the teachers are so occupied decorating their classrooms and preparing their lesson plans. I think it's undeniable that teaching is the noblest job in the world. You see, the tasks of a teacher can be limitless. He is an academic teacher, he acts as a guidance counselor too,and he also plays the role of a second parent and sometimes he even takes the job of a classroom janitor. Teaching can be tasking yet many still opt for this honorable profession. I guess, it's not about the salary because sadly, teaching is one of the most overworked and underpaid jobs in our place; but it's actually the satisfaction that the teacher gets when he sees his students learning and being promoted to the next grade/year level. I hope all students will learn to appreciate their teachers. A sincere respect, a heart-felt thank you's and hard-earned grades can be the most rewarding gifts for them. Good luck to all the teachers out there!

Unfortunately nowadays you have a lot of rude students that are too self-absorbed to be grateful for the one that's teaching them. However, we can't count out those that really appreciate teachers and want to learn.

Hi leewalls. Yes, it's such a poignant reality, isn't it? Anyway, I think it's about time that teachers walk an extra mile to feed not only the minds but also the hearts of the students. I think the teacher's main responsibilities are to teach academics and to build the character of every student-which is the most challenging part of the teaching profession! So, good luck to all of the teachers!

I am a primary school teacher and at the moment it is half term. The second half of the term begins next week then the summer holidays begin towards to the end of July. The new term will start in early September. Yes, teaching is a very rewarding profession. I like to see the children in my class do well in their behavior and work. Yes, the tasks are limitless. I feel overworked at report writing time and the paperwork can be overwhelming. I can get tired in all the school holidays except the summer holiday.

Hello maximax8! I am happy to meet you! Yes,that's the challenge that every teacher must face each school year. There are a lot of teachers out there who can teach but there are only a few who have the real heart and passion for teaching. And I guess you're one of the few. Good luck to you! I hope you can have a great vacation during your summer holidays.
