friends from last 16 months federer is literally struggling that we all know and he is highly criticized as well as humiliated.this is what i dont like.with his recent lost to nadal in french open i have come across many statements made against the man who is legend and should be treated mercifully while opposite in happening.harsh words are used against him and as a die hard federer fan it really hurts me what you people think about it? should it be done ? should a legend be treated in such a humiliating way?

Dear Shailesh, Roger Federer is a true Legend. There is no doubt about it. People fail to realize that superstars like him are humans too. And plus it is not as if he is losing by playing carelessly. He lost to Nadal in the finals. There are arguments going on saying that Federer cannot play well on clay court. I beg to differ. I say that Federer is a wonderful player on any surface. It is just that Nadal is the best player today on clay. And there is no shame losing to him. The critics have too many things to say. It is the same scenario with Sachin Tendulkar in cricket. The moment he gets out cheaply, people have a lot to say. This is because all these critics have been used to seeing these players win so often that when they fail, they think that the likes of Federer are losing it or have a flaw in their game. What they fail to understand is that there are a lot of good players around, with the sole ambition of winning. People shoulod remember that Federer has win 16 Grandslams. All said and done, if Federer was that bad a player, it would have been difficult to achieve such a feat. For me Federer is one of the all time greats and a few losses should only remind us that he is human. Share your views... Balu

balu_maris i totally agree to your point of views...i really think that federer is all time great player and he doesnt have anything remain to prove to anyone ( not even to his critics),he is going through a very rough patch from last 16 months but i m very much confident that he is going to come back very strong in the coming wimbledon ..and for those who do the comparison between him and nadal and rate nadal better than him...i would like to say that no doubt nadal is a great player and he too is one of the greats but he still needs to achieve many things which federer has already done...so people shoudnt really hype the every win he makes nowdays.

Dear Sailesh, I don't think that Federer is going through a rough phase. He just got defeated in the finals. I mean if you look at it, it is just one match. And that too against a player who is known as the king of clay....!!!! Critics can say what they want...: He has done enough in his life and he does not have to prove anything to any one... yeah that is everyone knows that federer doesnt have anything to prove to anyone.... he has achieved quite a bit which is enough to showcase how great he is. and you rightly said that its just the one match and especially against nadal that he is not able to win. i think in this wimbledon he will put his best and will definitely do exceedingly well and he must be itching to get another grand slam.. regards.

Same things happened when Manchester United lost its game against Barcelona. People usually have very high expectations on the "legend" player or team, but maybe their expectations are sometimes too high or say unreasonable. You cannot expect somebody to have perfect performance all the time, and they maybe distracted due to different stuff like family issues. No one are qualified to criticize others performance as they are not the one who actually play against the opponents in the race. No one can imagine how much the players suffered during training or leisure. The only thing we should do is to be objective but not subjective, to respect who we are (we are JUST audience), and to respect the player.

friend yeah ,in case of manchester and barcellona, everyone was knowing that this barcellona team is once in a lifetime team and manchester actually hardly had any chances in the game and those who cant understand this ,one has to say that they are just not good enough to understand the game and not the close follower of the game at all....

I don't think you should go by what news papers and channels say, die hard fans do not give up like that on the players. its a game and someone had to win it, I think federer also looks it like that. I have heard so many great players saying so that someone has to win they tried their best and they love loosing to a worthy opponent. He is not finished yet and plus he will always has his special place in the world that no one can take from him.

I think no one argues that Federer is a a legend and probably one of the all time greats of the game. But age and competition is catching up with him and hence his success rate is going down a bit. But he is still amongst the best players in the circuit and when the occasion demands he can step up to the plate. A classic example was the semi final match against Djokovic where he probably played some of the best tennis this year to beat the man in form!! Cheers! Ram

It happens. It is the start of Federer's decline. People have not seen this in the past decade, and criticism is to be expected. Don't worry about it. I'm pretty sure that Fed is not worrie about it in the least. He probably uses that as motivation to prove them wrong even more. Be patient, Wimbledon is around the corner.
