Using chainletters for promotion

Hello I got a chainletter today in my mail . Normaly i do not think about those things much and put them into trash as soon as i get them . But if you take the idea and use it to promote free to sign up programms could this be a source to get a lot of affilates to this programs ?

Most of people who check their emails, they only give an eye to those mails in their inbox which is expected. But those chainletters or whatever. Just like what you are doing to them. They will end up straight in the trash.

Chainletters with links to make money is spam. Nobody, including myself like spam.
