Automation is getting all over the place because of the advancement of technology and ATM is one of its products. ATMs are convenient to use but I was wondering if ATMs are still prone to crimes. What are these crimes? And do you think employment for this type of business decreased? I mean what about human factors.

I don't quite get your second question. If you are suggesting ATMs take jobs away from human beings and depersonalize the industry: Bingo! As to the safety of ATMs, I thoroughly despise them. Not only is it too easy for a tech savvy individual to steal barcodes and passwords, make fake credit cards or steal your identity, you also have the problem of people being robbed while at an ATM. Banks have done an increasingly better job of monitoring their ATMs but there is still risk. The banks are willing to spend the money protecting ATMs because those machines save them thousands in payroll and decrease the likelihood of human cashier error.

My understanding about automation is to substitute humans. So the existence of ATM put human tellers away right? What you've enumerated(about crimes) can still be done today I don't use ATM that's why I'm still naive with this thing. It's been a long time and I've never heard of crimes regarding ATMs anymore.

You are talking about automated teller machines? Well, crimes also get more high-tech as time passes, don't they? Nowadays, it's not just the danger of someone coming up behind you from the dark while you are using the ATM. Now, there are devices that can supposedly be attached to the machine that will read your card as you use it, getting your information and maybe even trapping the card so that you have no choice but to go get help while they get your card... All we can really do is try to be careful and vigilant whenever we use those ATMs.

Exactly, because of our too much appreciation of innovations we were driven away from the real time scenario of its effect in unemployment. Yes, it's convenient but we were allowing technology to starve humanity. I hope we could make equilibrium or at least focus on manpower improvement.

Hmmn, interesting thought...like everything else in our tech world right now, ATM's has given us convenience, but I don't think it has replaced any bank person though, I think it has even added to people employed in banks because there are still those tellers in the counters for depositors, or loaners, or whatever is transacted in the bank and then there are those who are assigned to see to it that the ATM machines have enough money inside and functions well...do you agree?
