One of the extremely hard lessons in life is letting go. These involve your emotions, things, situations, people, memories, relationship and even to your own self. Attachments on these motivates you to work for the best. Sometimes you don't realize that you are entrap and find hard to disengage from it.
The importance of letting go will make our life lighter and give us peace of mind.
I want to share to you what are the things I did let go, though so hard to do but I really have to...
1.Clothes. Do you have some clothes in your closet locked for a decade? Purging my clothes this weekend made me think for another beneficiary since the last time I was cleaning out it was given to a close neighbor. I don't know how and why I have these huge collection of clothes when I consistently give it. After evaluating, I can't believe most of clothes I kept were given by close friends and relatives, no wonder I just can't let it go easily. Finally, my closet is free from old collections. I still love it though I don't usually wear it. Sorry friends (giver) but it's time to say goodbye.
2.Books. I love books. I even saved old and torn books. My collections include extremely boring and amazing books; there are books that made me sleep and won't kncok me down. My collections are packed inside a plastic container for protection due to rainy seasons and the tendency of water submerged inside the house up to knee high. Building a mini library is a future plan in the house. I had children's encyclopedia collection for my niece and nephews.
3.E-mails.Do you delete your email immediately? I do if it's not worth it. But important mails were stocked for how many years now. My inbox has accumulated almost 20,000 mails not including the spam mails. Disposing old emails frees up space on your hard disk. It would take time to dispose email because you still have what to delete and what to keep still. So, I think it's time to delete those old old and irrelevant mails.
4.Toys and Shoes. I do have old shoes and toys for many years and other collections such as key chains, stationary, stuffed toys, greeting cards, bookmarks, gadgets and a lot more. I believe, the beneficiary of these stuff would be satisfied considering it is still attractive and useful.
5. Old foods, Medicines and Vitamins. Now let me check the fridge, there's a lot of old food stocked inside; expired medicines and vitamins overstaying. You should know the proper way of disposing old vitamins. It's time to replace a brand new stuff.

Hatred and Grudges. Checking out myself, there is a part of me when I look back to those who hurt me; relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Having unhealthy relationship with them wasted my time and hamper my progress to move on to life. Though on the other side, somewhere along the way, I step on their toes and hurt them as well because I am not perfect. Though it is so hard to do but with prayer and supplications, forgiving and letting go will give me peace of mind.
"Forgiveness is God's invention for coming to terms with a world in which, despite their best intentions, people are unfair to each other and hurt each other deeply. He began by forgiving us. And he invites us all to forgive each other."
Letting go must be a decision from the heart with full commitment. Let us think to our self that those things were just a garbage and no use at all. But it is liberating when we learn the art of letting go; New things will come, new opportunities will knock to our door and new beginnings to step forward. New blessings from God.

Thanks for sharing great ideas. I am sorry that sometimes I waste my time thinking about some past events I cannot change anymore, but they come to my mind and make me go through some problematic situations once more. I understand that remembering former failures does not help to concentrate on the future. I read such statements - if it seems impossible to forgive some offences, one must learn to release the negative experience, thoughts and open one's mind to new chances of the life.

Yes I agree with you because we are only human. Just convert your negative thinking of the past as a motivation to go forward and be strong as you go along the way. Just let go those bad emotions. @naija4real (1291)

My bible is holding me to move on in life. I study the word of God and dwell on God's promises and I also try to live a good christian life.

Amen to you. God has promised us that He will supply all our needs according to His riches... We only have faith to move on.

I agree that letting go is very liberating. The more things we have, often the less options we have. We often hold on to things, whether physical belongings, emotions, or attitudes, because we want to cling to the past or are worried about the future. Living in the now is key to letting go. We have to realize that these types of things are not what makes us who we are.

and the more we give, the more blessings come in that even the things we had let go has replaced with a new one and a lot better... have you experienced that?

There are certain things I do tend to cling to but have become better at letting go. See I finally realized that why should I allow "things" to collect dust ehen someone else can benefit from them. So it has become quite easier for me to let go of some "things" as it gives me great joy to see others appreciate and find use of the things I was just having lay around.
