the martyr terrorists

this news helps explain why I never agree with the death penalty for terrorists. that punishment is just too nice for them. they are glad because they think they have become martyrs who will be accepted in heaven. why should we make them glad by imposing death penalty to them in some countries? (for example: in my home country Indonesia). what do you guys think about this issue?

This is a tough one. If you let them serve life imprisonment. They may be used as "living matryrs" to rally whatever cause they are after, especially if that person is a key figurehead. Another scenario is that; For eg. If Osama was kept alive, he would pose more threat, his Al Qaeda may kidnapp some people or do something terrible as ransom to exchange for his release.
