In India still most marriages are arranged between bride and groom by the parents with most of them meeting only briefly with the family present or not at all. Most stress is made on horoscope matching , if their sun signs are compatible , they will be compatible too and with low divorce rates and so many marriages lasting for more than 50 years, sometimes i think may be it is the right way but then modern thinking kicks in no people should not be forced in to marriages they should marry for love and nothing else. what do you say?So is there anything to zodiac compatibility. Does your astrological sign really have anything to do with who your ideal mate is.

I believe in destiny...and I don't really think that astrological signs could affect love. What affects it is how you get along with your partner.

Isn't destiny dependent on what we choose?

I believe that destiny is just a guide. We still have control of whether we achieve what we were destined to do or not.

Personally I don't believe that these signs and attributions dictate our personalities. Hence, these signs don't have anything to do with one's ideal mate. I agree with you that people should not be forced to marry people they don't want to marry. But I disagree that love is the only consideration. Love is a big factor, but it can't be the only one. Compatibility is another and for me, more important. But love is indispensable, real love, not lust nor passion.

May eb here that has been the way of life for so many generations that people do not think beyond that and agree to marry a complete stranger. You do make a valid point though yes compatibility is a must factor.

True. Arranged marriage is also common in our country. Well, not as common as it used to be, and not for all either, but there are several sectors in our society that practiced it and some still do. Parents have a tendency to believe that they know whats best for their children, it applies to any nation and ethnicity, we just really have to accept the fact that sometimes, we are right and sometimes our parents/children are right. It is difficult to go against tradition, but it can happen. When you do it, however, you could be right or you could be wrong.

I am not really sure if horoscope has something to do why my marriage is still intact. We have same sign and compatibility is high between our signs. But since marriage is here in our place is between lovers and parents do not intervene,it the bride and the groom decision to marry for what reason they have be it for love or for something else. Marriages last in my opinion if love and respect between couple do exist. When one is absent, marriage can not be wholly successful.

I think more than love respect is much more essential as love has so many definitions but respect is what keeps couples together.
