This is my problem. Everytime I work, after one hour I got no focus in my work. I tend to go to the toilet or take a break outside my office. Sometimes I will just go back home or worst I will resign and find another job. Although my job is flexible I just can't work non stop until lunch hour or continue to finish my work at 6pm? How to eliminate my problem? For your info, I have depression for more than 10 years and I have change my jobs for hundred zillion times.

hey, frnd, what I think may be meditation will help in this situation, if you try to meditate this will surely increase your focus on your work & as you said you were in depresion for long 10 yrs I can understand. I advice you to make lots of friends, try to be happy be fresh, to avoid tension, this will keep you away from depression.

Dont panic in your self see first of all try to focus on your life dont get yourself wrong have faith in you. Now talking about your problem see this is a serious issue that you are handling depression for 10 years this can have a major impact on your health. Now concentrating on Job i think you need to have some activities in between i will give you my example i go to job at 8:30 in the morning and come back at 6 during time of morning i work constantly till my lunch i take some breaks like talk to friend be online chat with someone and some activities like that. and then the same continues the later half during the day afternoon. This is how i spend my day. Now my friend here is something you got to do. whenever you take breaks during your free time make it more joyful and from your discussion i think you must also be having some sleep problems if such is a case when you get back from work make your self active in some activities like exercising or playing some outdoor games or meeting some relatives this will make you lighter and cope with depression and last but not the least make prayer an instrument of your life you will surely benefit from this go to church or take part in some charismatic ministries this will help you a lot ALL THE BEST

Hi Choi Yee~ Start doing your own job. If you do think that jobs that you have is not suitable for you then you should start one for yourself as you are the only one who knows the best about yourself. Create a job like you ever wanted. Find helps to to build your career. I don't think you will find your favorite jobs outside as you have your own problems and it is hard to suit yourself with the job when you have those problems~

Thanks CTHanum, I will have a serious thought on the idea now since I could not hang on to a job more than 2 months. I think I have a heart problem as one of commenter said.

Choi Yee, if you do have a heart problem you should seek doctor's help. If you don not want to then start think the positive at least think that you could do it and you are healthy. If you keep saying that you are weak and sick you will get more depressed and your body will stay like that forever~ Some said that we should change the attitude and the way we are thinking before we blame surroundings~

im so sorry for it :( i undertand that you are having depression. i feel depressed too sometimes. lately for example im really stressed bcs i cant find a job. its sad but a lot of people feel depressed with their jobs. but i think that maybe you should just try to focus on your job for awhile. me too i feel so many times so sad bcs my everyday life is like the same bcs im always at work mostly but think that if you work a lot for a few years and save a lot of money soon you can have a better life. you can leave your job and travel and have a lot of fun. this is possible if you have a job and save a lot for your life ^^ cheer up and if you need to talk just message me. for sure i will answer you^^ and advise you i wish that you feel better soon and happy with your job^^ the best for you

A famous person once said, "find a career you enjoy and you never work a day in your life." Seems to me you are just restless. But if a professional has diagnosed you with depression, he/she must have prescribed treatment. I was like you when I was young. Would not last in a job more than a couple of months. It was not until I went back to school and found my career nitch that I settled down and began looking forward everyday to do what I do. For me now I earn money doing what I love and not working.

Hello! =) When you say you have depression for more than 10 years, I wonder if this was as diagnosed by a doctor/psychiatrist? As some of the others have mentioned, it might be an anxiety disorder you have. Either instead of depression, or together with depression... I think it's best if you get counselling. You need to talk about this with a professional. Also, maybe office work is not suited to you. I can't think of a specific type of work that may work for you, but maybe not office work. Oh. And the commenter who said the problem is your heart... I don't think he/she meant you have a heart problem. I think it was speaking figuratively. So do not worry yourself too much about that. I hope things work out for you. Good luck! You can do it! =)

This could be depression, but it could also be an anxiety disorder, as another poster said. My spouse had a similar problem - just couldn't focus on work or school. He went to a counselor who helped him get back on track, and is now working at a job he enjoys (engineering). Before, he wasn't able to really work at things and tended to take jobs where the tasks really varied so he didn't have to do any one thing for a long time.

When I was actually working, I found that in order for me to be able to stay on track with my job I would need to either have a job where I had a variety of different responsibilites so that I could change tasks on a regular basis or I would need to take a 5-10 minute break every hour so that I could clear my mind. For that reason, I don't necessarily think that the problems have to do with your depression, it just might have something to do with your attention span.

Ms. Wongchoiyee, U may not be just suffering from depression but, also Adult ADHD. It may sound untrue to U at first but, my oldest son started out with same type of lack of focus/concentration when he was younger. After he was diagnosed & prescribed the right medication/dosage he was able to focus 90% on the task at hand. It's just something to think about is all...

Wow, that is bad. Really bad situation for you. No offense, but I think you got a problem with stress management or something like that, even though I don't know the correct term for your symptom. Somehow, you just have to manage your stress and patience a little bit better. Otherwise, you won't stay a job long enough. So, my suggestion for you, go see a shrink, or therapist to help you out. It is your heart, not yourself personally.

You too need to be your own healer. When you observe yourself as you have descibed your actions above you can heal yourself. First of all if you are a believer in God, you need to have faith that together with your collaboration God can transform you. You cannor have tension to waith with anxiety to witness the positive results overnight. Sometimes choose to be alone by yourself. You can take help from a sweet music and meditate. Yes the great masters have given us a great formula - ask yourself " Who am I?". Do not seek to give answer immediately. Analise yourself. Even follow the reflection as you have mentioned above. Just watch your life as a third person watching a film Just analyse that person of yours how you accept this person. Ask hopw you would like to beautify this person What are the means? Set a goal before yourself. What you like to accomplish in your life. Formulate a Goal Decide how you would realize it. Begin the journy every day. Every evening do a analysis how you spent your day? Ask how can you improve it for tomorrow. Do not reduce your activities those negative all of sudden - little by little. Read books. Watch You tube programs on self hypnotism. Search for guides who can direct you steadily.

It can happen. Not something that cannot be healed. A stable mind is an asset. You have something positive that is you accept your reality and your speech says you are not satisfied with your inner dispositions. There may be multiple ways to heal it. But you must discover what type of healing method is suited for you. My suggestion would be you must take your condition easy and must not bear too much anxiety for it. You must formulate a noble goal in your life. A life without a goal is like a boat without the rudder. You may need a friendly counselor whom your psyche accepts. You may read a lot of books how to heal the self. The self awareness and self effort brings positive changes. Sometimes for a brief time just sit down under a tree or by a riverside and just relax, sometimes close your eyes and just enjoy the nature. Remember that healing does not take place overnight. Time is a good healer. Enough that you are aware of your self.

Stress itself is not bad. He can prepare us to overcome a critical situation. When our life is threatened, stress makes us achieve things we would not have thought we could. In addition, when we have to pay off a major task, stress can lead to increased levels of adrenaline in the body, and so get to it pay off in time. Problems arise, however, when stress is ongoing, and our body can not relax. Sometimes we think we got tired. We feel stress as a threat. In such situations we do? Throbbing rhythm of life brings stress, and we have nothing to do but to make our good habit of fighting with him daily. Only up to us if we allow stress to invade our existence. Like a fire. It will be easier to extinguish a fire than a fire out of control. Left to accumulate, the stress we will burn your mind and maybe we need "aid" to escape the flames of burning. Good communication with those close, humor, pleasure to watch the bird in flight or to revive the spring buds, to be good and meek, to forgive and love ... But not least to give ourselves!

I think you are suffering from some physical problems and the first thing i suggest you is to go to the doctor and do your medical examination as soon as possible or else this will get worst and always keep your mind cool and calm and i think you must indulge in yoga.

I think it's normal to need a little break after an hour of work or so. It's good to take lots of small breaks throughout the day, I think it's almost impossible to just work straight through doing the exact same thing for hours. Better to work for 45 minutes to an hour and then take a little walk around the office or switch to another task for a little bit to take your mind off things. Definitely never stop trying to find the right fit for you though, perhaps if you had a job you really love you wouldn't feel this way as much?

If you really depress about your jobs, here's another advice for you. Forget about any jobs. Go, take a break for a some long period, i.e a week, or maybe a month, or if you could, two to three months! Or if you really can manage, try for a year forgetting about doing a job or anything about "jobs"! Sounds radical? Yeah, I think so :D But in the mean time, try to do something else. Do some social work, working for a community, get a long in a social environment, or else. Just consider it as 'to play', instead of 'to work'. Well, I don't know. Hope it'll work out for you ^_^

hi wongchoiyee, i guess you have a bigger problem inside of you than just cannot focus on job. maybe you have a kind of anxiety disorder. have you met a psychologist? he/she is a professional and reliable person to share your problem and most of time they can help you solve your deeper problems.
