If we don't handle a task, say- mending our torn books and notebooks- when we first detect it, it will probably cost us more time and labour later than it would have if we have handled it right away.
Set a firm day and time to tacke and unpeasent project on your calenar, fix a day and time. Unless there is an emergency, don't let antying stop you form keeping the appointment. Write down the steps you need to take to finish a job. List task in the order you should perform them- then check off each step as you complete it so you can see your progress. Try this: If doing a subject seems overburdening, write down what you need to do frist. Your action list will help you get the whole job done in a timely and orderly manner.
What do you think? would above technique help us stop procratination? Any ideas?

hello, writing down and making a time table seems to be a good idea at least that's what I use to do when I was younger or when I was a student, as I matured and become more face to face with real life problems, I simply lived my life as if there was no tomorrow so I would tackle tasks and problems as fast as I possibly can, yes writing it down helps because it will train you later to go on full automatic ( no more writing or jotting), that is when faced with several problems at the same time, you would be able to discern right away what needs to be handled first. Enjoy your student life my friend, I think you have good ideas now on how to handle procrastination at least for the time being, continue what you do, just siting ways to handle it is a good start

@louievill: What an advice!
"Live your life and do your work as if there is no tomorrow" Perhaps that is the best way to train yourself to have that attitude of punctuality...And I believe it is good for everyone to have that attitude...Unfortunately, I found that most people nowadays don't have the punctuality, and let the time fly for nothing...
Perhaps the only people who follow the time is the people who earn $10,000 per hour...Now you know why they are rich and we are not!

thank you livecenter, perhaps if we could just practice a little of the principle, then we might get a good fraction of the 10,000 usd per hour
, perhaps a day or a week or a month LOL,not just punctuality but the resolve. Kidding aside, think its good practice for young people to develope the habit while young, I bet they will never be sorry for our advise when they have to face the realities of life later on

@louievill: As they say, it is way harder to teach an adult an attitude lesson because they tend to protect their own belief nurture since they are young...Seeing this from two perspectives I can say that:
1. It is easier to teach an adult an attitude lesson when they are still young rather than when they are older...
2. It is easier for them to protect the attitude once it is in their heart...
Nevertheless, I couldn't agree more...They will definitely be thankful for our advise today...
Happy myLotting!

making an action list is a good idea but the problem again may be the idleness- the culprit of procrastination.

Yea it is right. we can also tell a freind what you are trying to accomplish. If you have decided to read a novel, as a close pal to inquite about your progress in, say one week. Once you have announced that you are going to act, you are much more likely to follow through.
Don't make matters worse. If you are not taking action for an emotional reason- for example, you need to talk to a friend about their rude behavior- consider this: You are only going to feel worse then longer the taks hangs over your head. Tell yourself that taking action make you feel better faster. Give yourself the freedom to make mistakes. Some times we delay making a decision because we ant to desperately to be right. In this case, fear holds us back. How can we overcome the fear? Remind yourself that everyone makes mistakes. THen make the wisest decision you can base on the information you have.

I actually tend to think that even setting a specific time for the future to take care of a task that needs to be done is procrastinating as well. Instead, when I see that there is something that needs to be done, I will try to set aside those things that I am working on at the time and take care of that thing that requires my immediate attention. The reason for that is that if I don't do it immediately, I will probably forget about that thing which needs to be done.

@tenrajj: A good list I must say it is, my friend...
But perhaps the best way will be do it straight away!
Don't even think of doing it some time later - you won't find that time...My father is a very time-strict person - he always do his work earlier than the anticipated deadline...
But I don't know why I am not inheriting his attitude...
