Your hair grows half and inch a month at its best. I think that the longer it grows the slower it gets. I have been told by hairdressers that if you do not cut it you just end up with damaged ends and thin ends since it is all growing at the same rate. I left my hair for over a year without a cut but it did not grow any faster than when I had it trimmed and I had to get a lot cut off to thicken it up so there was no point in not getting it cut. As to shampooing too often that will just take the oil out of your hair and that is not good for it. If you want long hair now you can have hair attatchments added or get a wig.

Eating a good protien diet is the best thing to do for your hair and nails. By NOT trimming your hair you are hurting its growth. When you do not trim your hair, the ends split and break. If you trim it a little bit every few months, it will look better and grow better.

Asliah, if you carefully reread Adoniah's post, eating a good protein diet is the best, but you also need to trim your hair every few months to help it look and grow better.

Eat a balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and get your rest (they call it beauty sleep for a reason!). Also, since hair is always growing unless you have an underlying medical condition, chances are that it's simply breakage. So protect your ends and keep your hair properly moisturized. Try sleeping on a satin pillow case and limiting hat use as well as keeping your hair out of the way of potential dangers like shoulder straps and seat belts. I'm not sure what your hair is like, but generally if you want to grow your hair out, it helps to use as little manipulation as possible (detangle with fingers or a wide-tooth comb as infrequently as possible) and try to wear more protective styles, like braids, twists, or buns to protect your hair from friction and the elements. Some sunscreen formulated for hair won't hurt. And heat and chemicals are a no-no - that includes blowdrying if it's feasible to cut it out. I've been working on those principles and my hair has already grown over ten inches in two years, though I did cheat and chopped off a good deal of hair. If you notice splits or knots, just snip them off right above the damage.

Long Hair - How to grow long hair?
I don't think shampoo or any other expensive hair products can ever help you grow your hair faster. Don't believe those commercials my dear. You don't even need to go to saloons and spend much money to get what you want for your hair. If you want healthier hair you should watch what is lacking in your diet. Know what nutrients are good for your hair and eat them on a regular basis. Remember if your body isn't getting enough nutrition, neither is your hair so if your hair could not grow then I supposed there is something wrong with your diet.ARe you getting enough protein? If not then expect your hair to stop growing and become dull as well.

try trimming your hair 1 inch every 2months and use hair growth shampoo like mane and tail... tried this trick before and it works for me...

Hair usually grows on average about 6 inches a year, or a half inch a month. So cutting an inch every two months will do nothing but keep your hair at its current length. Everyone is different, of course, but it might make more sense to trim as needed and only as needed. Dusting the ends works as well, since it only gets rid of the bare minimum to eliminate split ends. I do agree with the Mane and Tail though. It seems to be pretty hydrating.

I don't think you can speed up the growth of your hair. I've seen no difference with any of the fast hair growth treatment shampoos/conditioners that my friends have tried in the past. I'd just say give it time. Everything grows out eventually unless you have a bad health condition.

If you want long hair NOW, your best bet is to go a reputable salon and get extensions. The best ones are not cheap either.

There is an old wive's tale that says to get hair or fingernails to grow faster eat Jello. Since all cells require protein, I would think that would be important. Maybe you should just eat a very healthy diet then eat Jello for desert. See what happens.

Get regular trims and massage your scalp. I do these things and people are always commenting on how fast my hair grows.

Like the other person said, you should get regular trims. Eating a healthy diet (especially the protein part) is probably a plus too. I know that people who don't get enough calories and protein often times lose their hair. So the reverse might be true too!

Hi there! Try massage your hair while washing it. Massaging your scalp really can help your hair grow faster and longer cause it helps your blood flow in your scalp.Plus you need to maintain good nutrition.Eat a healthy diet. Minimize fat and sugar intake and increase protein in your meals. Keep in mind, however, that it can take several months to notice the results, so don't get discouraged.

Trimming your hair will not make it grow. Not trimming it will not keep it from growing. I have not cut my hair for years, not even a trim, and it has grown a lot. In the last six years my hair has grown from just shoulder length to waist length. All of the good advice the others have given will help you have healthy hair. But hair growth is not determined by what you do on the the outside. Some people's hair just grows faster than others. My hair has not grown as much in the last couple of years so I think it may have hit it's natural growth length. I know ladies who have NEVER cut their hair and it's no longer than mine (waist length) And I know others who have been letting it grow for only a couple of years and their hair is already longer than mine. I would suggest you keep doing all the things to help your hair stay healthy and beautiful. God determines how fast and how long it will grow... it's in your genes.

i have done this a bunch of times because i wanted to donate my hair. I found that healthy living makes it grow faster. Eating healthy eating and exercising really works well. Drink a lot of water and also massage your scalp. Good luck.
