6 years old do not need cell phones. This 6 year old should have been made to do some volunteer work some where and pay for all the time he used to mess with the 911 people. Even 6 yar olds can pick up trash or wash dishes or help serve meals.

hi there in my mind i think it's the parents fault the kids were doing something they shouldn't of been doing and they should of been watched more carefully and not all kids are responsible enough to carry a cell phone they should be taught the responsibility of a cell phone and understand what does happen when they call 911 and when to call 911 i think that about sums it up but that's just my train of thought

For me really so that's the high tech technology many disadvantage of it rather than counting the advantage.

Reminds me of the fable "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". Parents should really think about buying their kids cellphones because things like these could happen. If they really want to buy their kids one because of emergencies, they should educate them first and instill to them that using cellphones for prank calls is a big NO.

It is a grave mistake to have allowed a six year old the use of a cell phone. The kid was misusing and wasting precious time of the law enforcement authorities.I read that these crank calls and hoax calls waste the time of police and other authorities who could have made better use of their time and energy for those more in need of their services. Its best we deny or delay giving the use of cell phone to kids till they pass high school.

This is definitely a lesson fr parents- I agree, parents should monitor who their children are calling, since they can easily make prank calls. No one should do this at all, since emergency calls should only be used for real emergencies..

Wow a very costly prank. I don't really feel that a six year old needs a phone at all. Not sure what type of emergency a six year old can have if really should not be on the streets on his/her own so not a wise decision for me to make if I had a six year old.

hmmn, that was just a boy being totally a boy...the mother shouldn't have given him a phone in that very young age, you don't leave a 6 year old alone, right? So, why the need for a phone?

I am not a fan of cell phones at all. I don't like the fact that someone can contact me at anytime whenever they want (rude I know, sorry). I've also heard things that the government can listen in and blah blah blah. To the main point. No six year old needs a cell phone. I really don't think anyone who doesn't drive, work, or need one for purposes like those is in need of one. And if the kid walks home and spends a few hours home alone, then buy one that can only call certain numbers and the parents SHOULD be responsible enough to go over the rules and etiquette with them. But this is the 21st century and I think most of us went to public school and we can see how much "good" parenting there actually is.
