I live in Central Texas and every June, we host The Republic of Texas Motorcycle Rally. 40,000 bikers come in from all over the country, if not the world. Among the activities is a motorcycle parade which ends in downtown followed by an all night party and dance. Talk about noisy!!!! These bikers bring a lot of money into the community. Most have a great time but unfortunately there are always some deaths and other problems. It is only Saturday evening and there have already been either four or five biker deaths. Two others are in the hospital in critical condition. Fights have broken out sending two persons to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. And one person committed suicide by jumping from a hotel during the festivities. I stay home. Are any mylotters familiar with The Republic of Texas Motorcycle Rally?

I am not familiar with that specific rally, but as a fellow Texan, and the daughter and granddaughter of people who attend such things, I am concerned about what goes on at these events. It's hard to control a large group of people who are already doing a deadly activity (motorcycles are scary and have a high mortality rate). As individuals, we are smart, but in groups we sometimes lose sight of common sense. I can say that I will be keeping those people in my thoughts and hope that next years festivities are much safer.

I am from Central Fl. We of course have Bike week In Daytona Beach. The Biggest Biker Rally around. I went to the Texas Rally a couple of years ago when I was staying in San Antonio. I have also been to Sturgis and a few others. I used to go to Daytona every year, but I don't have a bike anymore and I don't even ride anymore since I broke my back. Life is a bummer when you get older...
