Do prefer sleeping with music?

When I was in high school I always hated to sleep with background noise. I prefer to sleep with a silent ambiance until I started college where I have to adopt a new environment. I was staying in a boarding house just a bed spacer cause it is the only accommodation that my parents could afford. I had to deal with strangers inside the room where I don't even knew what's with them. One of my roommate can't sleep without music and sad to say she had a broken headset and preferred to use the speaker. Huh, I'm so pissed off that for 1 week on a row I haven't had a tight sleep until the next week where I was kind a used to it.

I'm so sad to hear that but the only thing that i can suggest is for you to put something in your ear to lessen the sound that you hear every night.I'm just worried about your health because it may affect your studies if you don't have enough sleep.Or try to talk to your room mate and ask her if it is possible to her to just lower down the volume of the music,it your right to inform her about it.If not you can also ask for the help of your land lady or land lord.

I do not usually prefer sleeping with music. It is because I am a karaoke addict. When the songs are playing, I cannot stop myself recalling the lyrics of those songs and sometimes I really want to sing them out!! Even I try to focus when I close my eyes, I can hardly fall asleep when I am listening to music. But I would do that under two circumstances, one, when I am on the plane. I can hardly fall asleep when I am on a plane, not only because of the noise created by the engine and the disturbance of other passengers' snore , but because of the very narrow space available for me to move around when I was sitting in an economic class airline seat. Once I felt unbearable to sit in that seat for more than 10 hours and I woke up in the middle of the journey, couldn't fall asleep again. I almost lost my temper, but my ipod saved me. I swear I will bring my ipod with me if I need to travel again by air. Another situation is if the people living on the flat above me have their flats redecorate. You know the kind of redecoration make use of electric drills and the noise are always unbearable. Sometimes I am afraid of the noise and feeling anxious that the ceiling may fall down. So I have to use a speaker to play my ipod music in order to fall asleep. Phew.

I only sleep with music only when I can't sleep or when there is something bothering me. I sleep with my sisters in the room and they too sleep without the music on. If ever they wish to sleep with music, they listen to it with headphones or ear piece on. It's a matter of respect actually, since we are sleeping in one room they are obliged not to make any sounds when others are sleeping that same goes if I wish to listen to the music, I have to listen to it on my own so I won't disrupt their sleep.

I also prefer to sleep in a silent and dark environment. Scientifically its good to sleep in silent and dark environment. Specially for kids who sleep in a silent and dark environment used to grow while sleeping. Well, many times I face problem like you that loud noises coming from my brothers room while he listens loud rock music at night with his friends and chatting. Its really a disgusting and intolerable situation when I really shout at my bro to stop it. But at a certain point I am habituated with it and get sleep with this noises. Actually, situation made you to accustomed with such situation whether we like it or not.

Hi,christine888. I think bad sleep is a very bad thing, when I can not get goo sleep, the other day when I wake up,I will be in bad mood,in your case,I think you must feel very umcomfortable at first, but as the situation, the only way you should do is to adjust it,and now,you have done well. Just try to sleep with it,you will ingore all the background noises, hoe you can sleep well.

I also like to sleep with music in the background but of course I also have to be considerate if i have a roommate. The choice of music would probably be either classical or songs by Corinne May. I find it very relaxing and it's soothing to hear when you drift off to sleep.

For me I love to listen to music when I want to go to sleep because you know music soothes the savage beast well that's only a saying. I can see why you got annoyed though it must have been really hard to be listening to music when you know one doesn't like that or is not used to it. At first I also did not like listening to music when I went to sleep, but now I actually really like to listen to it because it helps me relax and get to sleep much quicker. Anyway we all sometimes have to deal with things that may be unpleasant and in those cases we pretty much have to get used to it or do something about it. Like that person should really get a new head set because they are not expensive at all.

I used to love sleeping with music on. I even reviewed with rock music! (And sometimes with the TV! ). But, now that I'm working very, very hard, I do not sleep with any music, because my alarms' ring are my favorited songs. Once I hear them, I wake up. If other types of music were on, I might be thinking that it's just the music when in fact it's my alarm!

Truly, that's really sad. I for one cannot sleep with background noise. I prefer sleeping in a nice quiet environment and lights off. It's not your fault that your roommate had a broken headset. If he/she really cannot sleep without music he/she should not give it as a reason. It's easy to buy one. It's not a valid excuse. He/she should learn how to respect other people especially you're in a shared room. If I am in your situation, right then and there, I won't tolerate that. Glad that you kind of get used to it, though.

I prefer sleeping in complete silence, but sometimes I can't help but hear some mellow to help me fall asleep. It's always through headphones though, it's impossible to fall asleep at a party which is the same with the speakers music.

I don't like to listen to music at night, unless i don's want to sleep. Anyway, having a fan turned on at night gives me some relax. You had really bad luck!
