Many of us have dogs as pets. In fact I have read a lot mylottians narrating about their cats. Suddenly some thing struck me: Supposing these pets dogs and cats start talking like human being -- English in USA, German in Germany, Hindi in India etc. Will the people continue retain pets or avoid keeping pets? I may not keep one because it will tell my people about what I am talking of them in their absence!!

See those deer my dog D. There is no deer There, a herd of them D. Where In the field amongst the wheat D. I see no wheat D. Ah, prey appears, I must chase Yes, it is the herd of deer running Oh course that is a very humanised version of what a dog might say. We could never imagine completely what they might say, we carve up the world differently from they. But I give you this example; the dog sees only background till the deer moves all the best urban

I normally do not encourage do have pet animals. Because some people for to safe guard their wealth, and some rear pet animals for fancy. In the years, when they grow old or sick, they have no pity for these animals and they through it on the street in a far off place, and make them to stray on the street. So, if the pet started taking , it will reveal the true color of the people who rear pet animals. Also the Pet animals will not leave them without hurt.

Hi ravisivan Wow now that would be amazing, firstly I can't own a pet currently where I live because my landlord will not allow it. But if I owned a speaking one, hmmm truth be told at all times. So I am afraid this would be out of the question as my dog would have way too much time on his/her hands and be far more of a chatterbox then me.

I do own a speaking one! He's a naughty little Cockatiel who copies a lot of what I say. Fortunately, I am a very nice person and only say good things, mostly! ;) I would love to be able to hold a proper conversation with him. I am sure his insights on how I look after him would be illuminating!

Hmm, what would your pet say???? Most likely since their desires are fairly simple they'd be talking about their food, going out or to the 'box', comfort places, such as a couch or bed or even a favored rug...Their likes are fairly simple too, today they like this friend who came over or that one, but tomorrow that could change, maybe the cologne made them change their minds. Pets for the most part are amazingly loyal, so if they did suddenly begin communicating on a 'human level' it's doubtful they would ever repeat negative remarks. Animals react more so than act. They do not plan at least not 'long range'... Their view of the world is very different than ours... Somehow I doubt given the state of the world with so many governments having financial issues, that if animals could talk that they would give up their current status and request equal rights...after all, who would want to be taxed if they could avoid it?

Ok... Pets do talk in their own way. If you are open to them and talk with them they will let you know what they want. It would be nice sometimes if you could carry on conversations with them, but they are more affectionate usually than people as they never let things bother them. But there are times it would be nice to trade places with my dog as I would Love to be able to sleep all day and not have to worry about anything else except for Sleep and going outside to go potty.

I would still keep my kitty even though some of the looks he gives me I can almost tell what he is saying to me. Today he told me he needed to go outside. He came up to me put his front paws on my legs and meowed. He was saying Mommy, Open the door and let me out. Sometimes I think it would be easier if he could speak English

Well we already have police dogs. so if they could talk and tell the policeman where the bad person is. Then that would help alot. But barking works just as well.I dont think my cat would want to work since he is a lazy cat

Yes. It will be easier if they talk English. Good. then people will ask pets to operate laptops and also software jobs so that they can earn more. Then dogs will be working as constables regulating traffic. something interesting to think. Practical?

Hm, depends on what they're saying. Most likely it will just be "feed me", "I want out", "clean my litter box"...

they try to be more smarter than me. As these will be no difference between humans and animals, may be people start comparing pets with their master.

Hello Ravisivan, If dogs start talking like human being, many people will be surprised to see what interests our dogs. They will only speak about simple things like food, playing, mating... They are not interested in fashion, movies, stock markets and any other gossips. So don't worry, they won't tell your friends what were you talking about them in their absence.

In that case, it would be a pity to spoil the way they are now and change our pure and loving dogs into some insensitive gossipy... I like dogs more the way they are, with their language containing only bark and growl and whine...

I doubt we can keep them in such cases, not because them telling about our private life, but instead because we can hardly still consider them "pets". Think about it, being able to speak our pets would have pretty much the same abilities as we the humans have and would be no longer considered "inferior" as they are now, and I don't think they can be made pets so easy, as they would be able to claim for their right to freedom and to be treated equally and all that sort of things. I doubt too that we would speak freely in front of them, and do all our private things in front of them so freely as we can do right now.

Hehe. Hmm... if pets can talk... I somehow have this idea that they can think just like humans. And as such, it is possible to request that they keep certain things between us. In that way, maybe there is not much danger that they will tell other people what they hear from me. =P

I see. I must confess I am not always able to read through responses anymore, even though it is in the guidelines, unless it is my own discussion. Apologies. I am a slow reader and if I stick to the guidelines strictly, I will never be able to participate in any discussion. =( You have a good day too!

Nice thought. If pets started talking then also its good.Because by then they would become the same as human beings. They too start thinking and no problem to fear becox they will know what to reveal and what not. I saw movies which pets do talk , they really are good movies, and can be enjoyed watching by both elders and kids.

Suppose they are talking, I guess that would be fun and it would be much easier for both parties to communicate hahaha because some dogs can really understand what we asked them to do but in return they can't respond in words...all by deeds. I will continue to keep the pet..i would love that rather than hearing them bark every time they need water. Have a nice day!

WOW, the stories they could tell. My oh My. My pets would definitely have a hay day with us. I'm sure they think my husband and I are crazy sometimes. We are constantly saying things to make each other laugh. Our sense of humors are kind of warped. That's what keeps us going I guess. We talk to our pets on a daily basis. I've often wondered what they are thinking. They know you're talking to them. They must have something to say back. I get barks, tail-wagging, licks, purrs and meows. What about you?
