Cree Inc. has received Federal Money going back to President Reagan. they have a plant in North Carolina that employs 720 people and received $12 million in Stimulus money and $39 million in tax credits. This company also has a plant in China that employs 5000 workers. This is a good example of Corporate Welfare and why the government should not be in the business of choosing which business to support and which not to support. If the business has a product or service that people want it will be successful, it is not up to the government to decide what the public needs or wants and subsidise it. In some ways even all the regulations are a form of government subsidy. By giving a tax credit for buying a certain product is a form of subsidy as well as charging a user fee or tax and using that money for other programs.
