After undergoing the same confusion just a few months back, i settled for Samsung Galaxy 3. And i hope to not replace it for at least 3 to 4 years. But i'm not satisfied with it's battery life. It gives me just 2 days when not using the phone actively all the time. :-(

If you want to get quality smartphone then Iphone is the best or sony is also good . It all depends on use and the instrument whether it will go 4 years or not. HTC is also a good option for you.

I agree with you they keep changing the phone like every 6months or year. I am also planning to get a new one but I have the same worries. But for me Sony E is the best phone in the market, sturdy and they offer great features. I once loved Nokia but now that they have too many imitation in the market. I just don't think it's good buying. Samsung is cool too. Good luck on your phone search. Let us know when u have decided :))

I highly doubt that you can keep and mobile phone for more that 3 years. Althought my 6 year old SE K700i is still alive and kicking its battery. The thing is, mobile phone technology is not what it used to be. Just 4 years ago, smartphones were only used by a small numbers of consumers. I would suggest you buy a mobile phone that suits your needs. Set yourself the expectation that is 1 year your phone will be obsolete like all phones are.

You cannot possibly get a cell phone which you can use for as long as 4 years without getting bored... Each and every phone you buy becomes outdated in a year or 2 no matter what phone you buy.. new technology keeps on coming every other day... considering a choice of brand it depends on you what do you prefer... According to me Sony Ericsson phones provide a better interface and usability.. you can also save some bucks buying a nokia or a Samsung which are a bit less expensive than a Sony Ericsson... Also I suggest you to buy a Android device (not available with nokia). It's trending these days and number of apps available in android keeps you far from getting bored....!!!!

I agree with you on Sony Ericsson. The increasing number of mobile apps also makes it difficult to have one phone, its madness, i think I'll end up having different mobile in each pocket..lol. Thanks

I think you should list down your priorities first, take into consideration the features of the phone which is vey important for you and if its more convenient for you. Nokia is a user friendly phone but it really is up to your own preference just keep in mind always get a phone that is packaged, all in one and something that you dont get bored with easily. And keep in mind that everyday there are thousands of different types of phone models that are out so dont be bothered of how old your phone is

It's practically impossible to suggest a phone without knowing what your priorities are. What are you looking for in a phone? I personally had a blackberry because of my work but because of the change in position, I don't need it anymore so I changed the phone to regular phone. It's working out great for me & I'm saving few dollars every month. Someone above mentioned something about listing your priorities. Perhaps that's a good idea. List what you're looking for in a phone & find a phone that has what you're looking for.

I think it really depends on what you want to do with the phone. They are getting much more sophisticated than they used to be, as they have smartohones, which have a lot of features. Now, if you want a lot of features, then I would go for a smsrtphone. I have a mytouch 4g, and it is a nice phone, but, I never keep a phone for four years. I change phones at least once a year, as new phones come out all the time and it is hard to keep up. Just buy one that meets your needs, in the meantime. Take care, and have a very good day.
