I know someone with BDD and i was wondering if anyone knew anyone with this?!?! this person is convinced they are hideous and deformed when there is nothing wrong with the person! it plagues this person constantly and they never have self esteem due to this. they could like win the hottest person of the year award and this person wouldnt be convinced. i know there is drug therapy but they have already been on drugs for other issues and it didnt help BDD at all.. i dont understand it and thought with time it would fade from the person but its only gotten worse. anyone here have it? know some one with it? if you had a loved one with this condition what would you try? heck im even wondering if hypnotism could be an option! i was going to look up some self help stuff but there are a lot of crack heads out there and dont want to get a book and the person get more messed up!

I think the only cure for this is counseling or psychotherapy. This person you know who experiences BDD obviously needs to see a professional. This is a psychological disorder. Maybe the treatments will be therapy and counseling.

thats the only thing i can think of because this person has been on meds for bipolar and schitzophrenia and it hasnt helped that so im guessnig therapy would be the way they have to go

I think Body Dysmorphic Disorder is a psychological disease which needs a psychiatric treatment. The person truly believes that he looks so bad.All he need is support from family and friends to improve his body image apart psychiatric treatment.
