of a subject that you know that you're not good at? For example, if you excel in English, would take Math if you have the chance? I recently signed up for a Speech class even though I;m not a good speaker. I took it just to complete my course. When the teacher pointed it out to me, I said that the department wasn't offering the class that I wanted but I will still take that class if I had the chance. Ever been in this situation?

My whole major is something that I am uncomfortable with. I am horrible at math and I am a bussiness major. I figured why not go into something that will require me to push my self everyday. I am interested in helping ppl put i am terrified of public speaking. My goal is to be behind the scenes taking care of the business aspect of it. Taking a course that intimidates me gives me the courage to push forward and to prove myself wrong. My first math class is personal finance and I am doing very well!!

Like you, even on my field, I'm the backstage girl. I will do literally anything and any task as long as it doesn't require speaking on a stage and an audience. I'm horrible at making eye contact and when auditions came, my performance was left to be desired. I swear that I will never set foot on stage unless no one is watching. Good luck to your class!

Thank you and the same to you!!! I wouldn't be able to handle an on stage job. I would have a nervous break down.

No you have to be carefull with thous stuff becouse it may end your education. I have seen this happen. You can't the class of teacher does not like you you lose interest and give up in Croatia you can go to exams only three times before they expel you from colege. I think that you have to weight every subject and think about it becouse it may be the worst decision of your life.

Really only 3 times?! Its crzy how different education systems are throughout the world. If I only had a limited amount of tries before they would kick me out I do not think that I would chance it. In my school I have to maintain a 2.0 grade point average or be put on academic probation. If you can not bring the average up b4 the probation is over then you will be expelled. I also risk the chance of losing financial aid. I still think that pushing myself is the best for me I like challanges and will not let a grumpy teacher get in the way.

I think it is likely I won't take a class for the subject that I am not good at. I will lose my confidence and probably I can not even pass the exam. Then the study will become to be a suffering rather than a pleasure. I love China

Actually I have. Like you, I had to take few classes that I truly hate and shy away from just to complete the credit. However, after I completed those classses, I am especially proud of myself for the courage to go through with it and giving it all I can. My confidence increased because I know I can do it and because I practiced while in class, I became confident and more comfortable in whatever I thought I hated, for example, speech. I was the most shy girl you know. I was forced to take classes that I need to present speech on a weekly basis for 3 years. I thought I was going to die. I forced myself because I refuse to let anything stand in my way. After 3 years, I am more confident and I have almost no problem speaking in front of a small group. Good luck.

Three years? I don't think I will survive speech classes for that long duration of time. I mean, I would probably quit after that semester. I resonate with your sentiment that it would be an accomplishment in trying something that you are afraid of or you don't like, It's like baptism of fire. I guess it forces us to cope and learn things to overcome our fears and dislikes.

I have to take about three math classes for my major (that have no relevance at all to what I'm doing) and I've already failed one. I'm great at any subject, but math. I'm not talking about basic math, I'm talking about the abstract stuff like algebra and cal. It's safe to say that if these courses weren't required, there's no way I'd take them.

Math is also my Waterloo. It think I barely passed two math subjects (algebra and a subject that I forgot) but I really flunked Statistics. It made me feel bad becuase I flunked but I guess I really had it coming since I'm not really good at it. at least, the teacher gave us consideration points becuase the whole class was in the same situation as me. I just wish I could have traded these subjects for something that I'm good at and I can excel in.

hello jeanneyvonne :) for me, i would definitely take a class if given the chance. way back in highschool, i had a hard time with mathematics. it really took me time to analyze those numbers and problems. so what i did, i joined math tutorials and group discussions. there, a thorough discussion was made and one-on-one question and answer was done. in the end, i was able to understand and comprehend more about the subject. Joining classes and the like can really help in developing your skills especially on areas that you are not really good about :)

I had several classes I took which I really didn't like at all and definitely not good at, because I had to. But there are some classes which I would love to take even if I'm not good at it for the purpose of learning and getting better at the field of the course.

i will since i do not have any choice. my major is english but we have a course for math, algebra and the like and it is a pre requisite. so even if i dont like it, i have to take the course since it is needed. otherwise, no, definitely not.
