You can watch a live lunar eclipse online - it is not visible everywhere, not in the USA at least, but if you live in parts of Europe and South Africa, India and Australia, you can see it. But watch it online - it is going on right now on June 15 2011 about 5:45 PM EST. Total eclipse has not started yet! Be patient and you will see it.. http://eclipse.slooh.com/ I think it is amazing that we can see what happens on the other side of the earth..or in the sky..

Why is it not visible in the USA? Smog? Geographical location? The moon was blood-red the other night here. I'm not such a big fan of watching the moon these days - I'm quite busy at every moment. Thank you for the link.

Hi, veganbliss It seems to be the geographical location. I did a search from myLot and found this site: http://www.mreclipse.com/Special/LEprimer.html Maybe you find something more, as this is an event that happens rarely, so there are photos and maybe some movies about it.

Thanks for the observation, I did not see that part until now - this sites has a lot of good info! Better be prepared for next time, but it may take some time for us in Europe.

Oh dear! The moon is meant to be red during a lunar eclipse! I guess it shows how much we take what we have got for granted. Thanks for the further info.

Yup, I saw the lunar eclipse on the TV. It was very unique, and certainly quite an amazing phenomenon , close to full-moon time. Countries where one can see it would have had excellent experience.

Hi, greenline.. It is a good thing that they show such things on TV, so that more people can see it. I only saw it online, as this time it is light here all night, but hope to see it live some time..

That's cool. I haven't seen a lunar eclipse for a long time. It's something sudden but beautiful, and you'll never see it often. I think things like that shouldn't be missed when it happens again.
