Gnats are driving me crazy!

The last few months we have had a ton of storms in Ohio. The storms have been driving bugs into houses. I keep getting weird little black caterpillars in my bathroom which I am sweeping up and flushing down the toilet and can not seem to get rid of gnats. The stupid bugs are everywhere. I have tried putting a bit of orange juice into a small container with a dab of dish soap in it. That gets some of them. I have poured bleach and hot water down the sinks. I had to get rid of a houseplant because they were in it. As I am sitting here writing this, one of them is circling my head. The trash has all been taken out and the only fruit and vegetable that we have out are fresh potatoes. All the rest are in containers. The floors have been vacuumed. The dishes were washed. The laundries is done. What does it take to get these stupid things to go away. Help!
