A scientist in Japan must be bored or something, so he decided to invent a new technology that sounds useful but way too hard to implement, he is able to make artificial meat that is edible, safe and nutritious but its not made of vegetables. Its made of materials the girls from 2 girls 1 cup video. Yes steaks and burgers made of human excrement and sewage mud. I know there is a technology that turns urine/dirty water into clean water but this 1 crosses the line..... Turn manure into food. Source:(not refferal link)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij1-ky6F_Cg

NO NEED! If i don't have a choice i still not eat this kind of food invention, I rather starve. Actually, I don't consider this as food for human. Why not inventing other foods that last long without this kind of ingridients. It's really keen to eat. ewwwness! However, I've been thinking of this before but not like that kind of invention, I imagine a one(1) capsule that will take for a year before you feel hunger and loss energy and strenght. The content maybe a nutrious sources from our different kinds of plants, vegetables, fruits and protein coming from beans then remove the acid that will give harmful effect to older people. It will support the whole daily nutrients needs by human and last long for a year in just taking one(1) capsule. But of course, no one can ever live without water. water is still need to in take everyday. I hope someday I will have a chance to discover this kind of invention not coming from human exremenr and sewage mud. (_

I remember astronauts are using Some sort of pills to keep them nortured like they have a full course meal but it only take for a day. In ships and spaceships, Urine gets recycled into drinking water. disgusting as it may sound.

Actually, urine is completely sterile (without bacteria or other harmful things) unless the person has a Urinary Tract Infection. That does not mean that it is healthy or good to drink, but it will not make you sick either, especially if it is the only thing you have to keep you hydrated. Having said that, I do not think that I could drink it even if I was dying of thirst, so eating the other (poo), which is absolutely filled with all kinds of bad bacteria and other things that will make you sick is completely out of the question.

I do know that some cities have to recycle waste water and purify it for drinking water, and it is perfectly safe and healthy. I suspect it is the same on a ship. It is probably easier to do that than to do the saltwater, because the filtration system is already in place to do it for waste water, and they would not have to pump in saltwater. Also, they would not have to dump the waste water out into the sea. If the scientist ate it for lunch to prove that it was perfectly safe, I am not sure that I would trust him. I think that I would want to see the entire process from start to finish, including him eating it, without any interruptions just to make sure he didn't replace the "poo-burger" with a real hamburger or something like that.

Its the nail in the coffin for my space travel dream...lol but I understand raising plants and animals in space wont be that easy. I think I will have my own bottled water if ever I will be in the ship again. Trees with edible leaves(yes such trees exist and they grow fast) sounds like a better solution for hunger to me.

Have you ever been a ship? some ships recycle urine and bath water there. I dont know why they find those easier to filter than saltwater. Astronauts already recycles urine. the poo burgers sounds really nightmarish to the next level. The scientist ates it for lunch to prove its safe.

Oh No i would never have believed it! Who would do something like that? Im absolutely horrifyied! As amazing as being able to turn human waste into edible food is, its revolting. I would never eat artificial meat made out of this. It turns my stomach to think about it. I wonder how much this costs and how long he has been playing with and tasting poo for before he came up with a formula that worked. It's hard to believe there is someone out there who made this his life mission. I guess it could be useful in countries where the poor are starving, but it disgusts me.

that's horrid to think isn't it! It just turns my stomach i cant think of anything worse to use to make food. Well i hope they dont either, i doubt they would be able to just go ahead and do it behind our backs and the public out cry to know they were going to start serving waste in their burgers would be crazy.

I will make my own burgets now, i mean its an easy recipe to begin with. its hard to trust restaurants and fastfoods even before this is invented.

You know what disturbs me, what if some of those famous fast food chains will use those abomination of an invention as meat extenders. Because he said that it tasted exactly like real beef. Can you imagine how disturbing it would be. I just hope the largest companies won't take advantage of his invention. I can understand it would be useful for astronauts but should not be used for commercial purposes.

Well, the food we eat today just came from our own waste really or being fertilized by it, the only difference is, that guy is trying to do it artificially . I'm sure with so much people around consuming a piece of a limited resources, it's just a matter of time before it becomes a world of recyclable everything, including poops , it's just a matter of getting use to it.

I heard that NASA is Interested with this invention. In a way it's practical in a long-term space voyage. scientists were interested wait one of the planet Jupiter's Moon because it has an ocean. but it takes 15 years to reach it. it really sounds disgusting and say but it's going to be useful for space Travelers.

I have eaten weird food but I refuse to try this one. When he says that the cost is 10x actually the cost of normal meat but will be the same in the future, I don't think he will find any buyer. I don't imagine a seller saying seriously "Do you want beef or sh... ?"

Thank you : I don't dream anymore to be an astronaut. I know that they are already fed with pills and tubes, but this is too much for me.

Aliens are either using this technology already or Eating we people They abducted. I wonder what will the astronauts would Feel once they found Out they would be the first guinea pigs for this technology,

I heard that this is going to be used for the astronauts for space explorations. now I felt sorry for those astronauts. exploring planets will take years so I understand the interest Nasa have.

Wow, that's interesting to know but sounds funny. However, if such invention will be given attention and priority, nobody will suffer from hunger anymore especially in those places that hunger has a high number of mortality rate. I remember when I was small. My grandfather's doctor told him to drink the first urine in the morning and this is very good to our health. I was small that time but I can't really hold and I laugh out loud. I guess I'll be feeling sick if I'll do that.

His intentions Are Good but there is a psychological Barrier that will make people not support His technology. At this moment he said that Manure burgers were more expensive than Real Meat. I Hope that we will never be so desperate to resort to this.

HAHA i have to agree. It's really hard to laugh at this because it seems like the right way to go for some of those less fortunate place where people dont have enough food to eat. I dont think i could ever get my head around it. I love how open minded you were about the subject ginger berry. I hope there is more people who think like you about the subject. hopefully the hungry ones... hehe i know it's no laughing matter that joke was probably in poor taste.

omg! what was the japanese scientist thinking? i know his intentions are good but seriously, who would consider such? perhaps, this technology can be done and used to provide food for livestock such as chicken, cattle, and the like but to propose the idea that human excrement and sewage mud be turned into steaks and burgers and fed to people is downright disgusting. maybe, it will be applicable for space voyage like what was mentioned in the other posts but i would think that we the amount of money space programs would have at their disposal, they can think of a better alternative for food than manure.

By far humanity is not that desperate for sure,I remember the first time I saw it,The funny thing is that he have a restaurant that serves this to people. only few people must be going there. he could have use this technology for making clean fertilizers to crops. he plans commercializing his 'brilliant idea". I think Russians successfully grew potatoes in space.

Yes, that definitely sounds disgusting and not very appetizing to the stomach at all! Still, it's a well known fact that the world as we know it is running out of food and all options have to be laid out on the table so to speak. I think the key thing is survival! We don't want nations fighting each other for resources which include food and water as well as medicines. If I think about this idea carefully though then I suppose I would be all for it although I would rather not be informed as regards the ingredients! I would much prefer to remain ignorant as longs as the offering tastes nice. This really is a crazy world that we are living in! Andrew

He said that he was Able to make the Artificial meat by Extracting the Protein from the Bacteria. Maybe instead of using Manure, he should be using vegetable pealing as the source of bacteria to produce protein. he was eating this himself to prove it was safe. I'm not sure if I can eat Such Think because the idea is really hard to stomach. it will take a long time for it to be acceptable.

oh, my! how gross! it sounds to me as very desperate. but it had me thinking now if someday, this will happen. and had me thinking about a question, are you going to eat this when there is no food anymore to eat?

I can handle eating either needs up some animals people don't usually eat, and i eat some vegetables actual data people don't usually eat. but this 1 it's hard for me to imagine. We thought of it makes me feel sick. but I have a feeling that in the future there will be a food shortage And this maybe used. I hope it's not in our lifetime.

I regretted stumbling upon your discussion after I recently had my dinner. i took me a great urge not to throw up on my computer. That aside, i don't want to know what inspired this scientist's...interest. I have a vague notion of his intentions but I think the only scenario where people will actually warm up to this idea is when they are really really desperate. If that is the case, I do not wish to see or experience that particular event. I don't think my taste buds will nor my nose will cooperate if this ever happen.

he said that smells like Real meat and it doesn't smell like the material it's made of. it really put shivers in my spine.have you ever been in a ship, I heard the drinking water there is recycled from the urine. I just hope that there'll be a solution to overpopulation because I have a feeling in the future this might be implemented in some countries.

That sounds indeed disgusting,I'm sure many people will be willing to try this alternative source of food, but I certainly hope that won't be the main meal of the future.I don't imagine myself eating such a thing,I don't think I would cross that psychological barrier;I might be able to cross that the line if I found myself somewhere in an isolated place with nothing else to eat,I would try to imagine that my name is Bear Grylls and I could eat anything,no matter how disgusting.Maybe that will help, but I doubt it.

I think overpopulation and food shortage will be the only way this could be a food of the future. But I think it's not going to be on our life time. So we should not be too scared about it. Or we should save a lot of money so we won't end up eating this in the future

If true, the organic movement, the food, health and wellness industries, etc., in fact, even organize religion, will be up in arms against this "food" technology. What a change in culture too. And changes in the use of physical space. Imagine our public toilets, once confined to the out of sight, becoming "food factories." Imagine restaurants and food shops relocating nearest to these sources of supply. Not very appetizing. This will change human life as we know it.

The thought of It sounds really nasty but I have a Feeling that in the future This would be implemented. It really Sounds disturbing and disgusting and it's a little bit scary for sure. maybe it can be used for fertilizer and pet food instead. but for sure if your Dog eats This, you will never like to be licked in the face
