Should we be worried about Climate Change- and what could we do?

I used to be a "denialist", that is, someone who rejects idea that humans are causing the earth to warm. Now I'm a "skeptic". I really don't know who is telling the truth. Likely, there is some truth on each side, as well as some lies. I'm concerned about political and money motivations behind either side. What do you think? What could we do about climate change anyway? Reduce pollution is the only thing I can think of. Every proposal has that as a goal, right?

I am a skeptic too.. I really don't know. I live in a place where it's cold so it's hard to worry about it getting warmer. Naturally the world should warm up after an ice age, and believe it are not we are coming out of an ice age, it's just at too fast of a pace apparently. We should definitely try to drive economy cars (and I do!) I drive a small car that's really good on gas.

Thanks. Even if there is no real threat from global warming, there are plenty of reasons to avoid wasting energy and polluting.

Pollution is what I am more worried about. Where I live we have this lake that everyone used to be able to swim in. And in a few years nobody will be able to swim in that lake ever again because of all the pollution! It's terrible!

As a whole, the world does use more gases which muct be a contributor to the global warming issue! However it is difficult to say if this is the main factor and if humans are to blame as a whole!

Well i think Its only humans that is responsible for the climate change because none other life on earth is causing pollution than humans it is we humans who contribute for the increase in pollution, Today the climate has changed drastically and lot of increase in heat and melting down of ice is been done, we have been hearing lot of earthquakes from the past years and still there are, also due to many sea projects there has been increase in the level of sea cost acquiring land so somewhere we humans are responsible for everything nature plays its role only if we human reach negatively God created this earth to dwell in a peaceful way but as man is progressing he is going far away from earth so somewhere our mother earth is reminding about this through changes.

It's true humans are causing pollution, but then you have to wonder what relation the pollution has to the climate, and what the climate would be like absent the pollution. Perhaps it would have warmed anyway...

I'm very care about the issue of global warming and climate change.I know I can't do a lot of thing, but I do all that I can such as not throw trash everywhere, reduce pollution, reduce use of water, electricity source, reduce use of plastic, and so on.I hope this help!

Indeed, it is certainly that the issue of environment should be worthy pay attention, and not only the climate change, but other pollution of the environment, there are many approaches could be contributing the issue of environment, eg, we can save use water and make good use of each piece of paper, etc, i believe, as long as everyone pay the real action, this issue will not be difficult...

Thanks... seems everyone so far only suggests that we reduce pollution or conserve resources.

The term climate change sometimes used to refer specifically to climate change caused by human activity, as opposed to changes in climate that may have resulted as part of Earth's natural processes, and the differentiation of these two causes, human impact versus natural processes is a key component of the climate change debate. So, you being confused is just right. No oil spills, no climate change, no radiation danger, no nuclear waste. I think sustainable transport like biking to town with low or no carbon in using transportation. Eat better foods like buying locally grown or organic food or we grow our own food. Unplug appliances, cell phone charger when you aren't using them so they don't waste energy. Dispose responsibly, be responsible with the waste you produce - recycle and compost your food scraps. Those are the things that I think could stop climate change. Happy myLotting!! ;-)

The reports that I trust shows that humans have very little impact on "warming." I remember a few years ago when I discovered an AP article tucked way back in the newspaper where scientists insisted that any "warming" was caused by the sun. The article I read was in 2007. Others showed up in 2009, but they were always tucked in the back pages of newspapers as well. It doesn't fit the left agenda to admit that man is not totally responsible for any climate changes. http://www.dakotavoice.com/2009/06/nasa-study-shows-sun-responsible-for-planet-warming/ Now, a new research report from a surprising source may help to lay this skepticism to rest. A study from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland looking at climate data over the past century has concluded that solar variation has made a significant impact on the Earth’s climate. The report concludes that evidence for climate changes based on solar radiation can be traced back as far as the Industrial Revolution. Past research has shown that the sun goes through eleven year cycles. At the cycle’s peak, solar activity occurring near sunspots is particularly intense, basking the Earth in solar heat. According to Robert Cahalan, a climatologist at the Goddard Space Flight Center, “Right now, we are in between major ice ages, in a period that has been called the Holocene.” What's sad is that our children are being taught in school that there is no question that humans are responsible and that the only "fix" is for everyone to "go green." It's too bad that we're not teaching them the importance of keeping our forests and of planting new trees instead. http://nitishpriyadarshi.blogspot.com/2009/04/plant-more-trees-to-reduce-carbon.html

I have also wondered what role the sun in playing, and what super-long term cycles we are experiencing. Thanks for commenting

maybe thru human pollution's.... we only speed up the time instead of waiting for the next 1 million years for the next iced aged.... maybe only 700,000 years to wait for the next iced age to come or equivalent to it because we humans speed up the event....
