Kindle or Proper Book?

I have been collecting books since I was a little kid. My mom is actually fed up with my books because instead of putting figurines, I put my books when she buys or gets a new cupboard. In our home, I keep a space for my books. My husband thinks I have collected far too much. Recently, a friend of mine has introduced the Kindle to me. I like the way it looks and best of all -- it's not bulky! Should I plunge and buy myself a Kindle? or do I stick with my books? Decisions... Decisions...

Hi, Funkeygurl, I too collect books and it is indeed a pain organizing these books. However, when I tried Kindle (borrowed one from a friend), I still chose reading from paperbacks than from an electronic gadget. I can't determine yet the reason, but reading a book from Kindle or from iPod did not appeal to me. Fortunately, I found this program/freeware that helped me keep track of my books. I downloaded it from this site. http://freewareapp.com/biblos_download/ Thus, I put my books in boxes with labels, and only few on the bookshelves. Good luck coming up with a good decision.

I do have a few e-books installed in my iPhone but it's a bit difficult to read - even if I did try and enlarge the fonts! It's like reading from a very small pocketbook! Thanks for the tip about tracking books. My pile here is still manageable (I think) though I have sent a few books back home as I intend to build myself a library! Just for personal pleasure of course but the problem is the space which is why I was opting for a Kindle or maybe a Nook? Thanks for commenting Zazen6.

I've been having the same debate. I like the idea of the Kindle, but I still like books. I;m a big book swapper, and this goes away (for the most part) if I would get the Kindle

Hello Funkeyguhl, Either kindle or proper book, hence, both of them do have an advantages and disadvantages. If you will going to have a kindle here in the Philippines, you do need to have a wifi so you will be able to download the articles or stories that you need. Except if you already have downloaded it and you will just need to browse over those from your kindle. And as long as you have a wifi connection, kindle will be indispensable. However, if the wifi will not be readily available anytime, kindle can just be use if the article or story has been already downloaded and stored. On the other side, books are still reliable. As on this side, you dont need to have a wifi connection. You just need to get your books out from the shelves then that's it. You just need to open the contents or index page to find out what page in that book you want to read. No wifi connection needed, no downloading and no data storage needed. With reference on the above, if I will be at your shoe, I will rather choose kindle. As this gadget will be less hassle though a wifi connection is needed, still, you can avail that thru your network provider at anytime. Nevertheless, the last decision will still be at your hand and at your budget.

The hard books may really be bulky but I suggest that you keep that great practice. It makes you look smart when people see your place filled with books instead of figurines.
