I don't remember the name of the user now, but everytime I saw a discussion on how to stop smoking, I would jump to it. They always said stop one day, that's it. They were very right in one point.
Now how a very long time smoker like me, that would inhalate all my mom smoked when I was 8 (loved smoke since then but only begin smoking later) could stop?
I just learned animals get tested for all cigarettes brands, they inhalate, forced, the smoke until 50% die. Can you see how selfish that was of me to smoke? And I bothered human beings around, but there's nothing like putting it 24/7 until dogs, monkeys, all cute animals to die, they never take the mask off, the laboratory testing is a terrible thing. So I knew I had to stop. I gave my self just the end of that last pack with 13 or more cigarettes, after that I couldn't continue, that was the deal between ME and...well, me! Only the person can stop for real.
So there are people that count cigarettes: "For now on I'll smoke 5 a day." No dear smokers, don't do that. Count how many times you'll inhalate the d*mn drug. I'll inhalate just 7 times per day this week, and sometimes you'll do it 10 times but it's okay, at least you tried. Know that the first days are the hardest. But in one week, you count not cigarettes but how many times you put in your mouth, and turns out you smoke waaay less cigarettes.
Next week, think about one day at a time, you narrow down...and down...
My single last pack lasted three weeks...I was offered to have one more pack and I remind the picture of those Beagles with their eyes frowned, suffering, in disgusting and pain...And I said no, forever.
You CAN DO IT dears. For the Animals, for your self, for your family, they just suffer to see you killing your self, I always felt so bad to leaving my family have that feeling...I would get near them stinking of smoke, near my pets...That ain't right. Narrow down, begin from there :D
I feel so much lighter, happier, I breath better, I do more stuff in just one month since I stopped, I have more apettite but that I'll change in a while, after this little will to smoke goes away I'll deal with that, right now I'm not even worried...
One day at a time...
They say smoke is even worse than cocaine...don't be harsh on your self, but make the commitment to stop smoking...for the green too, the smoke goes up there, to the sky and all, it's polution too. But specially, for our family, and these animals that are suffocating because of our habits.
About animal tested products, there are TONS of products that are not tested, please choose these, the quality is the same and even better, but they are not diabolical enterprises, so you $upport non killers and non torturers, as the animal lab testing is just like nazism, no anesthesics, very sad!

I guess the process of stopping really differs from person to person. I tried to stop one day but after it I smoke almost one and a half. I tried reducing the number of sticks per day instead and that worked. Mental tricks don't work for me. Thinking of animals dying due to smoking really doesn't affect me that much but it does, only not enough for me to stop smoking.

Wow. I didn't know that Johnson & Johnson's tested on animals. We've bought and used several of their products. At least my mom did.

hi dear
the first day is the difficult one, but you could also not stop from one day to another, try to narrow down. I used to smoke 20 a day, I narrow to 15, then 13, changing it after month so you don't feel very much.
At the ending I only allowed my self like 5 or 4 per day and when I find out they TEST SMOKE ON ANIMALS I decided that smoking a little wasn't normal for a Vegan, that I should stop and that pack I promised it was my last.
Now I don't want to get your hopes high but to help: the 1st day was a b***, I thought I would go crazy but believe me: the second day it got better! The 3rd can't even begin with, it was better. In one week I calmed down. For a month I still wanted a little bit. Only after like 2 months I was tested, I got into this restaurant and there was a smoker part and it was the first time I smelled smoke, it hit me a little.
One day at a time dear.

I know quitting smoking is not just a project that you will accomplish overnight. It is really a struggle but just imagine the benefit, long term one. In fact, this could even save your life. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to that day you will say I've not smoked for 3 years now. :)
