Why do parents still oppose love?

Hi, i have been in relationship with a guy for almost 4 years and both our families kind of knew it for some time. Recently, my bf dad talked on preparing for our mariage and his family went to see some brokers to match my stars with my bf. They even asked my dad to do it as well to confirm everythin would be fine after marriage. My bf & I dont beleive in all this as we loved each other and it is so typical and old method of match making. After looking into that, my bf parents start rejecting our mariage as d stars did not suit 4/10. OMG, i got hurt so much & explained to hs dad & finally he left d decision 2 my bf. My bf trying to convince hs mom n relatives that oppose our love & mariage.My parents lil modern type,not bothered all this & agreed to my love,thank god. But, do you guys beleive in all this? Why parents still oppose love? Why people still beleive in those match making stuffs in this erra?
