Sorry Kitty, I can't adopt you...

It's so sad..but i just can't. Today i was walking on the sidewalk where i accidentally heard a meow sound. i ignored it because i thought it was another person pretending or doing the cat sound. once i was done purchasing some good i decided to come back. then, i heard another sound, and it was indeed a cat hiding in the shutter. I was trying my best to get her but she won't let me. not only she is far but she's hissing too. with that, i decided not to continue adopting the cat. but probably because I have to cats already and i can't afford to have another one. I am still a cat lover but i have to assertive on whom i should be taking care of and not opt to be a hoarder...you know the one who likes to collect cats?

I have a friend who loves cats a lot also. But me...no, I have no desire to adopt or to take care not even one cat. I have 3 dogs, 5 doves, a turtle, and fishes in my aquarium and those I think are enough for me. I don't like cats ever since the die I was born.

Hello Salonga, Since the "DIE" you were born, born again? hahaha. Each and every one of us have our own perception as to what kind of animal we should be taking care of. this is one of those things that you want to take care of. Have a nice day and good luck with the dogs.

It is difficult to ignore the cute furry things peeking through those big eyes. But one must be restrained. I have 5 already, and I simply cannot afford to take on another, though I really want to. There is a family of 5 running about and I feel so badly for them. Poor kitties!

Hello Rosegardens, I agree one must restrained because if we don't we might have our house filled with cats. That's probably why they should be neutered whenever they are adopted because if we don't then they will be more of them in the future. we feel bad for them but it will be worse if we are not prepared to take care of them. have a nice day.

True, if we can't take good care of them there is no use in having them. They need love, attention, food and medical care. The outside female, Jackie, is pregnant. She is so sweet and lovable. I am praying someone will take her in and care for her well.

I too would love to take in every stray dog and cat I find and it breaks my heart when I see so many homeless animals because people didn't want the responsibility..

Wow, I had to reread this discussion, because I forgot about it..Yes, you are right, take make a decision to take in any animal, one must be able to care for it. I know this concept well, unlike my husband. Back when we had the White German Shepherd with the disorder that would costs us over 60.00 a month in enzymes, he kept hanging on trying all kinds of methods so we didn't have to give her up..I pleaded with people online and with him, that she needed help.. Fortunately he saw we couldn't take care of her and she got adopted by a nice family who is taking good care of Zoe..

Hello Carmel, It's not easy to make a decision to take care of animals and not every one is financially able to do so. like me, i couldn't feed my animal constant pet food, i may have to provide and give them some rice and some viand foods. have a nice day.

I'm a big fan of dogs but I like cat as well. When I was in college, there is a stray kitten near our food canteen. I asked the canteen owner who owns the cat. They say that it was a kitten of their cat. I asked them if I can take the cat home and they agreed. I brought the kitten to my boyfriend's apartment and he is so happy. We call the cat "Meow meow" because we can't think of name yet. The cat is always sleeping on his bed and he feels that he is not alone if there's a cat in his apartment.

Hello Chiwasaki, Wow he's a lucky guy that he's able to have cat in his apartment. some people think it's a NO NO specially if they are the land lords of the apartment. I think the name meow mow is really cute and something that is easily memorized. Have a nice day

Hello Letran, I know the feeling. It happends to me every day but with dogs, not with cats. If I could, I would take home every poor stray that lives on street without a family. But where to keep them? We live in a small apartment and there is not enough place for more than two people and one dog. I try to help them as much as I can. I try to find good families for them but, unfortunately, there are not too many people eager to adopt an adult dog these days. You could try to do this with cats, too. Maybe you have a friend or relative who doesn't have a cat. It worth trying to find the little cat a good home.

Hello Inu1711, I don't know about dogs but i can go with taking care of stray puppies as long as they don't have a flea problem. unfortunately when it comes to dogs i am not that good in adopting nor risk helping them, only for cats. good luck in taking care or dogs. have a nice day.

But most of them have the flea problem. Especially on this end of summer, when the fleas seem they have embraced the city. With small puppies is easy to get rid of most of the fleas by bathing them with a dish washing detergent. The worse part is when you try to find homes for them.

I am sorry to learn about the cats who are homeless. I love cats. I have two she-cats I can say I inherited from my grandmother who is ill now and unfortunately cannot take care of anything. Two cats remained in the country house. It is alright during the summer, but in the winter no one lives in that house, and the cats have to be taken to the flat. There are some people in my grandmother's village who have about ten cats at home. The cats use to go to other houses at night and look if there is some food left for the cats of that house.

Hello sanijas, No cats stay long in our home except to these two lovers that i have now. I feel envy to those who have capacity and freedom to take care of their cats when ever they are found. have a nice day.

Hi! I think it was right that you did not take that kitty. You said it was hissing when you tried to pick it up. It might have bitten you and you would suffer from rabies! And yeah, you might turn into a hoarder if you just pick up every cats you find in the streets, just like the person featured on tv who have tons of cats, or was it dogs? She had a lot of them and she's problematic on where to get food for her pets! There's also this dog in the office who has puppies. I tried to adopt one of the puppies but it was so aloof so I couldn't. My co-worker warned me about rabies. But the puppy was really pitiable because it was still chubby when it was small but now it's growing to be skinny. Whenever I see it I always tell it "if you just had gone with home with me, you might still be chubby".

Secret bear, I agree because some people have told me that cats can give you rabies too. so far i have experience scratches and bites. I feel sad for those pets who is too paranoid to approach us. like these street cats that i kept encountering there. well, the important is that we get to chose to take care of some one at one point. have a nice day. em]happy[/em]

I am! present! Even if my father hated me because I have a dozen inside the house, I keep my ear deaf and pretend I did not heard him. I cannot stand on cats crying out for me, I even hearing them calling my nickname whenever they cry. There is something with the cat that they knows I am one of the adopter of stray cats and they come to me to be take home. I do not know and I do not understand why I cannot find peace whenever I neglect a cat crying. Sometimes I pretend I did not hear or see a cat, but inside me i am tearing a part. If a cat is there in the road and I am going home, not going out of the house, I will definitely grab it and I will bring it home but if I am going out, there is a battle inside my brain to adopt or not to adopt it because I have somethings to be taking care of. If I see the same cat towards home that I will bring it home. Just this morning I saw an orange cat. She was there crossing back and forth and all the tricycles were crossing the road. I carried her and put her on the side. She keeps on crying on me to take me home and I was crying inside because I am going somewhere. When I see her later today when I get home, I will bring her home.

Hello Grecy, I have the same dilemna in the past, but i have decided to out grown it because i need to check on reality and the truth is i can't adopt them all and we have other things to consider spending too. Orange Cats are really cute as i have seen some of those but are too afraid and just ran away. have a nice day.

It is still very kind of you even if you can't adopt this kitty. One day when I was on my way home, I saw an abandoned kitty in the road. I really loved this poor kitty, but I knew I couldn't adopt it. Since we both had to work in the daytime and my mom didn't have time to take care of it. You know adopting a cat needs to be very responsible. I didn't want to adopt it but then abandon it later due to any reasons. So I waited there and finally a woman passed by adopted it. At that time I thought if finally nobody wanted this kitty, perhaps I should call my mom and ask her permission to adopt this kitty. I was glad that finally this kitty had a home. I love China

Hello Youless, It's like takin care of a child but they don't grow up to have a job and help you earn a living too. probably it was a good choice for you to not to accept this cat even though you wanted to. we are humans capable of taking care of small creatures llike that. but due to financial reasons we can't really afford to take care of them. have a nice day.

hi letranoh I know what you mean.years back we lived close to this two bedroom home where the lady the neighbors called the cat lady. I found out why when Idelivered her phone book to her door . She aske me in. they has turned her electricity off and the the odor struck me. litter boxes everywhere she had 32 cats, and boxex and neespapers in bpiles and catse verywhre. she had made me some tea from a kerosens stove. the odor was overwhelming. I swear she had cats from every color of the rainbow even three Siamese cats but she herself was; ragged, and dirty. she did have running water but she told me the gas company had cut off her gas. I had enough money to pay her gas b ill so I called them to come turn on her gas so she could cook and have hot water for baths. i did not have enough for the electric bill. My husband got together with neighbor sa and they collected enough to pay the light bill. but then she got a su mmons to clean up her home and give her cats to people who wou ld give them a good ho me as she was only allowed five cats in our neighbor hood. our neighbors all got toether and cleaned her house an her y ard but she refused to give any of her cats away.My husband had fo und ou t she had a dau ghter living in Leisure World who was cerywealthy. So he prevailed on her to come see her mom. the daughet too k mom and four cats and moved them inoto her luxury home there. the other kids were taken to the animal shelter. we adopted two ourselves and ssome of the neighbors adopted five of them so only ten wen to the shelter. Just a week after the house w as empty someone to rched it and it burned to the ground. We figured it migth have been someone who did not know she had moved out. there had been several threats on her life as she was totally different and some disliked that. I think she was just a sick, frightened frail old lady who was a hoarder. living alon she might have beeen gong senile too. but to talk to her she seemed educated but weird too.

Hello Hatley, Maybe she didn't have anything else in her life now that her daughter has moved out of the place. the cats are probably the only thing she had left. unfortunately, that's not allowed in the United States, but in the Philippines she can have as many cats as she wanted. Have a Nice day.

Hello Jaiho-Sis, Sadly I don't want to collect cats since this is just my family house and it's not an orphanage for street cats. anyways, am glad to two cats in my house but they won't last longer as another problem is coming in it's way. Have a nice day.

Awww,it is soooo adorable Maybe she is just afraid of people. My friend has a cat in his room and she is really afraid of people. She usually doesn't come out.I have been in his place for several times but I never knew he had a cat.Only several months ago,I was in his room playing Wii,and she came out of his bedroom(not really came out, just at the bedroom door),took a look at us and then went back to his bedroom again.I tried to find her several times later when I was in his room, but she usually just hid herself behind the curtains.Later he told me his Blacky(that's the name he gave her, haha) was adopted when she was hiding on his floor. The hotel manager kicked her before he adopted her.Maybe that's why she is afraid of people now.I hate that manager!!! I do know(not personally:P) an old lady who likes collecting cats. There are a lot of cats living with her.Haha. Well, hope the kitty will be fine.I once tried to adopt a kitty and my mom wouldn't let me.And then I saw two girls torturing her one day.:( I still feel sorry for that kitty.

Hello babyanna, There are people that are not tolerable to cats and some doesn't have the patience with them. I did remember that story that you mentioned that you weren't allowed to adopt a cat but in the end the cat was tortured. I only hope that the cat would live. Have a nice day.

well, that only means that I cannot ship the cat currently residing in 'our' compound to you. The tomcat has a very nasty habit of being picky in his food and always meowing like there' no tomorrow. We were trying for years to get rid of him with no success. My good-natured cousin and my father are notorious in our family in bringing home pets from God knows where. We understand the intention but of course, the responsibility should always fall on the perosn who brought home the pet, not the other occupants of the house. I like cat really but it's annoying at mealtimes. It meows loudly as if we're not going to feed it. When we feed him, he meows like he was never feed. We often wonder if that cat has unlimited storage space in his stomach. This made us realize that we're not taking in another cat, even if it's a pure bred. I think you made a good decision in not adopting the cat. I think you need to know your limitations even in things you love. Responsibilities are always associated with pets or cats. And sometimes you just need to let go. Just wish well for the kitty. Someone like you will find him (or her?) and take him home.

Hello Jeanne, You are absolutely right about that. we have to be responsible for our pets when ever we have the opportunity to adopt them. I can barely feed two cats and a dog every day. there are even times that i had to feed them only twice a day just for the sake of feeding. anyways, thank you for acknowledging my decision. and Have a Nice day.

Hello Catch, WOW, how can you adopt one more if there's already more than twenty in your house. I think the other mylotters have a point when it comes to neutering these animals. so that we don't have to feel sad and bad seeing animals roaming arond like kittens who are being left because cats can't take care of them.

Hello RitterSport, Actually it's the other way around, here's what happen. They Meoww as we all consider going through the stage that they're looking for some one. But if we get closer to the cats then they would hiss out of fear of being caress by a stranger but some cats are really sweet. Have a Nice day.
