Some Invaluable Comeback Lessons From US Open 2011?

I am sure golf enthusiasts here would have caught the recently concluded US Open at the Congressional Country Club, which was being won by a freckled faced 22 year old by the name Rory McIlory.
Now, I believe many would have remembered him who squandered a first-day lead at last summer's British Open and two months ago in the green forest of Augusta, where his last-day lead at the Masters imploded somewhere off the side of the 10th fairway cementing a label as yet another talented young player too fragile to survive the pressures of a major tournament.
So, it is only natural not to anticipate anything close to being the most intimidating presence on the tour in a matter of weeks. Because, with such a record, it is expected that he's not yet the game’s best player. And if there are thousands lining the ropes last Sunday, then the craning of necks there would be half expecting him to perform another crumble.
But, it was not to be so as he not only went on to win the prolific and prestigious tournament, he actually broke his predecessor's (Tiger Woods) record of 12 under par total set in 2000 with a massive 16-under par total.
Watching his performance and win was indeed entertaining and ecstatic considering the odds. This is really a good lesson about sheer determination and self belief. I believe golf history is in the making and in the name of a Rory Mcllroy.

Hiya sky,
Very well done Rory McIlroy but also well done to his Father who has made so many sacrifices like working a 100 hour week in three or more Jobs.
Wow the look on his Dad´s Face is really something as well as Rory himself.
I have been reading about him just. Had not heard of him either but I am sure he will be here to stay as well.
My congratulations to them both it´s so nice to see Father and Son together like that so very rare but such a very nice thing to see happen.
Again very well done to the Pair of them I think.xxx

lovinangelsinstead21,
Just watching him decimate his opponents in this tournament, soon after his disastrous meltdown at the Augusta Masters is really something and a great comeback.
I've seen a lot of good golfers melting away after a disastrous meltdown like Van de Velde the French golfer who squandered his lead on the final day of the British Open in 1999 and never actually recovered.
Now Rory was no different, only much tougher after melting down from 2 majors which really made him an "impossible". But, alas who is to say that there's no such thing as a comeback. Comeback he did indeed, making Irish eyes smile again.
