How much do people in Europe and US pay for a haircut?

I am curious because there are some friends' friends of mine who don't get a haircut when they're in the US because they say it's expensive. They only get a haircut when they come home to the Philippines. Just how much do Europeans and Americans pay for a haircut? Here in the Philippines I get a haircut for 30 pesos which is roughly 0.69 USD. Some even do home service with around $2.

Here in the UK haircuts seem to be about £5-10 for men, or £20-30 for women. If you're having it dyed though, it costs a fortune. I've been quoted prices of up to £120 for a cut and colour before!

That's way too expensive. That's a month's salary for a rank and file employee here.

Well I agree with the post below a crappy haircut for $5.00 in a ran down place but where I go I get a cut, and color for $55.00 to $75.00 but it is worth it because she is the only one I can trust to do it right!! I am in the United States and there are several different prices depending on where you go I know that I will never step foot in a Sipercuts place around here ever again!!!! They do awful haircuts!!!

I say the $0.69 that I usually have here is already decent enough. Sometimes I give an extra 0.50 USD tip and the stylist is happy with it already. Thanks for your post.

Nothing at all :-) 'Cause my cousin cuts my hair, and I cut the fringe myself. I think it's about 300 NOK here (35 British pounds at the moment, or 50 USD. Depending on exchange rates) if you go for only the cut, no washing or styling. Most hairdressers will wash or style if you don't tell them not to, and then it's about 500 NOK. I've thought about cutting my hair when I travel, but as I get it for free here it's a bit pointless :-) I might have to start colouring it soon though (just found 3 grey hairs, panick!), so then I guess I'll go one trip to a hairdresser to figure out exactly what colour I need. I want to colour it exactly the same colour as it is. I'll probably buy the colour abroad.

Services like haircut cost a lot more in developed countries like US, UK, and Canada. Also, tipping is a norm for people giving you services. Of course, a cheaper alternative is either you cut it yourself or have one to cut it for you. Do people tip for haircuts in Philippines?

Here in Italy prices are quite variable, but last time I had my hair cut I spent something like 10 euros. And I seriously doubt you could get an haircut for less here.

Well in the US, It's usually around $15-$30 USD for a decent haircut lol. That's around the average for a normal neighborhood, But then their are the broken down buildings which tend to be around trailer-parks that charge about $5 but do a complete crap job. It all depends on where the place is.

This is interesting. Maybe my friends' friends were not resourceful enough.

I live in Austria and haircuts are quite expensive. My 19 year old son must pay €19.00, but at least a €1 or €2 is also expected as tip. For women it is twice that much, so I don't usually come out with much change out of €40.00! That includes washing, cutting, drying and setting. If I don't need a wash, then the cost is about €5 less. Last time I needed my hair cut I also discovered that Regina, the one who usually cuts my hair, was not there, so I suspect she either left, or was fired!

A lady will begin cutting hair at my son's special needs playgroup. She will be charging ten pounds for adults and five pounds for children. I think that is around the average sort of price. Often ladies pay fifteen to twenty pounds for a cut, wash and blow dry. There are services like perming the hair to make it curly and coloring the hair too. So a treatment like that with a hair cut could cost fifty to one hundred pounds. It sounds cheap to get a hair cut in the Philippines.

Of course, in the U.S., it also depends on where you live. Haircuts in the Northeast or California, or any big city, will cost more than in other parts of the U.S. An average haircut in a suburb of NY or Philly a woman's haircut will be about $40-$50, plus a 20% tip. You also usually give a tip to the person who washes your hair. In New York City, it is likely to be twice as much!

In the Netherlands they would charge you about €12,00 for a simple haircut. Wash and cut € 15,00 and a perm about € 60,00. At a do-it-at-home hairdresser, you would pay approximately € 10,00 for a cut and €45,- for a perm. But is also depends on in what kind of salon you go.

In America, a cheap haircut is around $12 - $20. GreatClips (not a good place to go), though, sometimes has clearance haircuts for $6. I try to go for a better quality salon even though it's more expensive because they do a better job and I am more likely to get the results I want.
