hello fellow mylotters, I have a problem now. my paypal is not verified and I want to withdraw the funds on it because i need the money. what i did, my close friend has a verified paypal account and he agreed that i will send the funds to him and he will withdraw and gave the money to me. but here's now the problem, i sent $178.00 to his paypal account last two weeks ago and up until now there's no feedback from him. he gave me no updates of what happened to my money. I sent him a message but there's no reply from him. when we see each other, he won't talk to me and he is avoiding me. I don't know now what to do with him. what's in my mind right now is that, what if i will file a paypal dispute, can i get my money back? what will happen to his paypal account? will he know that i filed a dispute? i need your help.

I once filed a dispute towards a site that was offering a service but the service wasn't as good as they said it was. The dispute took about two days and I got my money back. I think they do get notified because they're just not going to take away money from someone's account. However, I suggest confront your friend and ask him about the money. Ask him why he's avoiding him because you just want to know what happened with your money.

I agree, making dispute claim at paypal is easily attended but before doing this, better talk to your friend and ask him about the paypal transaction. Only the two of you would solve the problem. Give your friend the benefits of the doubts and act only if he continues to avoid the issues. You worked hard fore that money and you deserved to get them back!

i believe you are right, and i learned here on one of the response of our fellow mylotter that i can't make a dispute because it is a personal payment. so i am now thinking to see my friend and think what to say and how to say things that he might not be offended.

I don't know if they can help you with the dispute because you gave him the money. Your "friend" is probably a scammer if he's still not responding to your messages. Anyway, it's really hard to prove that he is actually a scammer if he's not offering a legitimate good or service. Tough luck, PayPal will probably say they can't do anything.

i think so. my friend is not a scammer since he is not offering anything. he just want to help me withdraw my money.

Most likely by now, your friend has already withdrawn the money from his paypal account. I guess the best option would be is to confront your friend right away and ask demand the money from him. If you complain to paypal, do you have any basis or perhaps proof of your arrangement with you friend? It seems that you have transferred the money to your friends account and paypal will see it a legitimate transfer... But if everything fails with your effort to your friend, then perhaps contact paypal and see what happens next.

yeah, it is legitimate and i have no proof if paypal would ask any documented arrangement. i hope he already withdrawn it, so that when i see him, he already have the money, so he doesn't need to go the bank anymore. I'll ask him why he treated me as if i don't exist. when we see each other, he acted as if he don't see me, and doesn't talk to me. I think he has a problem with. if he has, why not tell me on my face. if he don't like me, why he will not directly inform me that he doesn't like me.

Of course, it best you solved with your friend. If this doesn't work then file a dispute. If paypal see that is his fault, they freeze his account!

yeah, you are right, and i don't want to make his paypal account freeze if it's his fault. i don't know if he could forgive me if that would happen.

HI! You said he is a "close friend" so you must know him personally right? Why not go to his house and then ask him. A lot of people can really be tricky and lying these days so be very, very careful. If you decide to file a dispute, PayPal will notify the person and it will depend to him if he is going to give you back the money or not. There is no assurance you will have your money back, but if you explain things well on PayPal, they might consider it and see what they can do. I once filed a dispute and had my money back. I just am not sure with your case. You have to talk to the person personally. It will be better that way. Also, if you really know him, go to him. But that's pretty huge amount of money and maybe he was attracted to use it on his own... Hopefully not.

yeah, i really know him personally, we've been friends for years and we are really close to each other. we treat each other as brother, but now we're not closed anymore. i you are right, that's what i am going to do. to see him and call his attention and say this "brother, i feel that you have a problem with me, can you tell me what it is?" then that's how i will open our conversation.

You can't file a dispute for personal payments. Here, check this: https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Disputes-and-claims/Vendor-requesting-Personal-Payment/m-p/233016/highlight/true#M10852
By the way, I just earned 19 cents from using the Search bar here in MyLot to look for that link I gave you.

First try and talk it out with your friend. If it does not work out you can file a dispute with paypal. Paypal will notify your friend once you file it and will give both of you a chance to solve it by yourself. If that does not work out you can escalate the matter and paypal will then interfere and they will decide the outcome. If it is your friends fault they will return your money.

you have a good suggestion. i need to talk to him, because i discovered that i cannot file a dispute because it is a personal payment and it's not his fault. so i think i can't get my money back.
