How do I find out who owns a house?

I need to find out who actually owns a house in my neighborhood. Some neighbors of mine are renting and I need to contact whoever owns the property. They have 5 or 6 dogs, I am sure the property owner does not know about...which normally I would not care...but their dogs are always getting out. They are constantly running loose and terroring the neighborhood. Animal control has been called on them numerous times. Well tonight I watched three of their dogs take down and attack a child. Yep..you heard me right. A bunch of us were standing around talking and next thing we know those dogs are on top of a 12 year old boy.He was out jogging. His dad was a little behind him. So by the time his dad go there we already had the dogs off him and had called 911. The neighbor could careless. All she cares about are her "precious dogs". There are a lot of small kids in this neighborhood. I want the property manager to KNOW what is going on and see if he can make them get rid of the dogs or evict them. We are very lucky that the kids will be ok. But something needs to be done NOW before someone gets killed. I am scared to let my kids play in the front yard now. How do I find out who actually owns the property?

I think you don't need to find out the house owner's identity. Rather than wasting time searching for it, why don't you have your neighbor jailed. You said it yourself that she doesn't care what happens to the other people/neighbors and all she cares about is the dogs.

good point...I did not think about that she would just get more. I talked to the property owner and hopefully he will take care of it. they are not suppost to have the dogs. I am hoping he will evict them.I imagine with all those large dogs in the house and yard that there is damage to the house.

But you can't get the dogs gone if she's still there. Even if those dogs are gone, she'll just buy new ones. Anyway, the response below is good too.

We did call the cops. They talked to her and got a copy of the dogs shots records, took pictures of the kids injuries after the ambulance guys looked him over and took care of him. they said they would turn the information into animal control and they would be calling us all to talk to us about it. hopefully animal control takes the dogs. My hb went over to talk to her and told her the dogs had to go. they were too dangerous. but she just cursed him out. You would think that the neighborhood kids safety would be more important to her...but it isn't. I have three small kids and right now I am scared to let them play in their own front yard.

Check your county assessor. Usually they will have a website that you can search and get the owners name. or check real estate sales. All of this is available online. Good luck!

oh it getting all kinds of jerry springer. This woman is crazy. yesterday i was sitting on my front porch and she stood in her front yard yelling and cursing at me. i just went in the house. It will get worse....animal control is coming today to take the dogs. They will probly be put down. also when i got a hold of the landlord he was very upset about what happened. he did not know she had so many dogs (7). So her whole family is probly looking at eviction too. I hate to do this. I really am a live and let live kind of person....but that attack was horrible. they chewed the kid up. she could care less about that kid...all she cares about are her dogs and she is mad and saying we are making a big deal out of nothing. she is trying to say they were trying to play with the kid and got over excited...yeah...I have seen a pack of wolves "play" with a deer the same way.

Thanks so much. I called the county assessor's office and they gave me the information. Hopefully this takes care of the problem.

Well if that dog attacked a child to where he was sent to emergency room then by law that dog has to be put down! The authorities should have put the dog into it's custody for that. I would call the dog catchers next time you see the dog lose or call the cops and tell them you are scared of the dog.

Yeah well hopefully when you find the owners they are not slumlords if they are then they may not care. When the animal people call tell the your side and how much of a risk these dogs are to your neighborhood

911 sent an ambulance, fire truck and two cop cars. they took statments. but did not take the dogs because she could prove they were up to date on their shots. we all signed statements. the police said that animal control would contact us. but the police did not take the dogs when they left.which ticked me off. I don't know what is going to happen as far as the law goes...but if they don't get rid of those dogs then I want the property owner to do something about it.

I got a hold of the owner...He was very upset about what happened. He said he would take care of the problem. He did not know they had the dogs and said he would not give them the option of keeping them. Either the dogs go or they have to move. Hopefully this takes care of the situation.

You could always look at property listings. If you know the house number on your street, yellowpage it by using the book or the online service. It shouldn't be hard if you know the address.
