I need some ideas for organizing the toy room....

my daughter is the only grandchild on both sides and therefore both sets of grandparents give her entirely too much stuff. All of the stuff is in good condition and at my child's developmental level. She still uses 99% of the stuff in the toy room. I do have some shelving in it, a few baskets (5) that can be used for storage, one three drawer plastic unit, and a nine cube shelving unit. Any ideas.....

I always liked the storage tubs with the rope type handles so that the toys could go into them and then the child could pull them into a closet or another room. I think that totes work well too and can help children to put things away. I liked to label them with the pictures of type of items that went into them.

I have about $90 dollars of "fun" money to work with. I am going to have to take some time this weekend when my child is trashing my parents house instead of mine, to get labels and pictures of the items for the baskets etc that I have already. I have a few totes with handles on them, they are currently in my bedroom, but they would probably be more beneficial for in the toy room. Maybe I can start getting her to take only one tub at a time out.

I had a $25 dollar wal mart gift card come in from one of my survey sites, so i bought foam plaques, markers meant to write on foam, along with some colored glue and velcro strips. It was $19.12 total, and I hope to work on making all the plaques tonight and have the room re-done before my husband comes home on Sunday. My daughter will be gone to her grandparents this weekend so I should have time.

My fav method of organizing is baskets and tall plastic drawer units. Right now, my son's play room has one of those cube units, and all but 2 cubes have those square canvas baskets. The 2 empty cubes are for anything! I bought one of those 9 drawer storage towers, labeled each draw. Depending on the age, labels can be pictures or words. I gave him a small drawer for 'treasures' and another small drawer for misc stuff. He is expected to clean up after himself. I saw your response below and I was LOL because my son used to think it was halarious to empty every singe bin, basket, tub, shelve onto the floor. IN ONE GIANT PILE! He would top it off with puzzles that he would pull out of the metal storage wrack and dump it all on top... you know that set from Parents? With the letters, numbers, shapes and stuff? LIKE 9000 pieces??!! LOL He did this at least every 4 days, and would laugh like the devil when I would see it. (I snapped one day and made him clean it all up on his own) Hard? YEAH, but he never did that again! LOL Anyhooo... Another trick is to not have so much stuff... even though she uses it all, it won't hurt to take some of it and put it aside for a few weeks... Rotate stuff in and out every few weeks. It keeps things new and exciting for them and teaches them that altough caos is nice, it should still be kept managable! Best of luck!

I have the next 2 and a half days to get my house cleaned up and organized with not interference from anyone (except maybe the dog to go for a run). I am writing out lists so i am ready for tomorrow (I had a stressful drive to drop my daughter off, what with a detour on the detour putting me in the middle of nowhere). Bright and early tomorrow I start with the toy room, and then go to the worst room in the house....my bedroom(with an equal share of mess belonging to my husband).

I would like to suggest to have a drawer that are like side table which you can pull out as sliding. Big enough to toast them and shoot effortless. And even your grandchild can do it after using her toys.
