we have seen many different versions and variations over the years! Which one are your favourite movies? If aliens exist, what movie do you think portrays them closer to reality? Probably my favourite movie is the classic "alien" movie. More movies worth watching (in my humble opinion), that also offer a nice twist in the much repeated tale are Mars Attacks, and the new film "Paul" which I have to say is really funny..

Totally agree on the original "Alien". Did you know Sigourney Weaver thought it was going to be some cheap b-movie with a big jelly-blob alien and was really reluctant to do it? Another of my all-time favourites is "The Day The Earth Stood Still". And no, I don't mean the pile of puke Keanu Reeves made; I mean the original one. Stunningly powerful, very deep and beautifully acted by all concerned.

To tell you the truth I haven't seen the original "The Day The Earth Stood Still". I will put it on my "to watch" list;) haha.. interesting fact that about Sigourney Weaver. btw, she also has a small role in the movie "Paul", obviously because she is a part in the cinematic alien movies.

Obviously, since it's a black and white film, there's no explodey special effects to wow the audience - it's a more thoughtful film. But trust me - if you like a slower film with something to say, it's great. The final speech by Klaatu really makes you stop and think. Shame more people haven't seen it (and have seen the rubbish new version).

whoa are you serious, i wonder who hasnt heard about metal slug, its an awesome series of gaming, i used to love playing the game multiplayer with my bro, i remember the second mission was in egypt , i think yea the last part was an alien spaceship thingy that we had to destroy , but the creatures were idiotic looking, the best level was one where they go rampaging through the city and then through the railway tunnel, those memories are still ringing in my head

Yeah, actually I forgot about this movie as well. It's a really nice movie with an impressive mother ship. I love the ending of the movie as well. I am not sure if you know the arcade video game "metal slug". In one of those games, I think the second one, they are making a parody of independence day finale. I don't want to say anything more as it might be a spoiler for the people that havens't seen the film.

I am probably not so much into alien movies as I have no favorite among the genre but I do like Men In Black and Predators(including the alien vs predator). I do believe that other life-form exist somewhere outside our planet. Just, maybe not as sophisticated as they portray them in movies.

Interesting. Hey how could I forget about the Predator films?! He is a really interesting alien life-form! I can't say I enjoyed the same the aliens vs predator movies.. howver I really enjoyed the video games! Especially the first one.. I remember how excited I was when I found out that they were making a film out of the video game! Too bad I didn't like the movies later:P

I like the 2003: The Year We Make Contact alien portrayal as it seems quite realistic. Though honestly there probably is life even in this solar system, but probably small, microbial organisms. Intelligent life may well be really alien looking.

very true. Even the smallest biological organism is considered alien if it is a natural habitant of a planet other than the Earth. considering this, chances are that aliens exist somewhere..

Hi cold, For me, it is "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" series. It portrayed worlds beyond our own and are very scientific about it, even if it just fiction. The series actually made me believe there are other beings out in the whole wide universe. The makers of these films liked to convey that someday, space travels shall be possible as going to the next city in a leisure trip. Star Wars actually claimed of events happening "a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away." It may be a bit farfetched but when Jules Verne wrote "80000 Leagues Under the Sea," nobody ever dreamed of seeing a submarine in our seas then.

I'll have to agree with you. Even though i'm not a trekie, I gotta say I enjoyed the series. And star wars.. there's not really much I need to say about that! A whole universe! I love all the episodes and I even love the videogames! Knights of the old Republic was an insane game.. and so was its successor! I even enjoyed the space simulator games from the 90's :P
