M V P ( Microsoft® Most Valuable Professional) get paid?

hello friends,
recently i known about MVP-Microsoft® Most Valuable Professional..
after doing too much research ,i am came to know that they are not paid by microsoft.
because they are not exactly the workers of MS.
but how they actually get paid?
is there any other means or etc.
please help!
