I had to put my eskimo down a couple years back. When he turned 1 he ended up having skin problems. He was put on prednisone a lot. It seemed to be the only thing that helped. We tested him for allergies, put him on special food, special soap, etc. He was our first baby. A birthday gift from my husband. When my daughter was born he was so sweet. He was always by my side. A few years of prednisone and I noticed his demenor was changing. I did more research and found over using of it can lead to mental instability. I asked to use different meds once finding this out, but it was to late. I came home one night and I had to put Sampson in my room since my son had a friend over. I couldnt trust him around kids, anyone really. He went crazy. First it was like he was lost and than he attacked me. I got out of the room. When I went back in he was my old Sampson again. I knew I had to put him down. I took him in a couple days later. I didnt want to put him down, I fought myself and talked to others. Tried to find him help, but it was nowhere. I put him in the car and he looked at me like he was saying thank you. I took him in and he walked right in. I didnt leave his side. Even after he passed, a friend went with me since my husband was out to sea, I stood there with him. Petting him to remember how he felt. Looking at him. I miss him dearly. Some dogs you love and their great, but others are like soul mates. They leave a mark on your heart. When they leave its a empty space that cant be filled. Happy Birthday Sampson!

Hi Tink and welcome to my lot. This is an odd thing but I have a dog named Sam too and he has been changing for a few years now but don't have him on meds. He just started act really strange. He growls at my husband and has even bit him a couple of times. He bit me a week or so ago and I was so upset about that. He really came out of some of it when we got him a brother to play with Tank but still not normal. We have had him since he was just 5 weeks old his mother was old and wouldn't feed him so we took him home. We have been discussing putting him down several times but just plain don't have the heart to follow through it. Just a fact about your Sampson he is in Heaven with God and not suffering anymore. He is waiting for you and your family to return to Heaven with him. He is in a lot better place then we are here on this earth. God loves all HIS creation even HIS animals!

Hi Tink. We listen to a man that teaches the truth about Gods word and he says that our animals will be in heaven. I don't know where it is in the bible that God created all of us for HIS pleasure and that means animals too. So I know your Sam is in Heaven. We lost one dog his name was Bear and it was hard to see him pass on. He was hit by a vehicle right in front of our eyes. The driver didn't even slow down after hitting him. He didn't pass on quickly he suffered a little while but know he is in Heaven too and not suffering a bit. Know one day that driver will face God and have to repent for the sin of hitting our Baby Bear. He was 9 years old.

Just wanted to say I'm also sorry about what Sam is going through ( I wouldn't be able to put him down either....Ever ) and what happened to Bear as well, That is truly awful. I have nightmares about things like that all the time. My mom thinks im ridiculous because I never let my two critters out of my sight. Hope things get back to normal with Sam.
