Ingenuity

I should have made the title Pinoy Ingenuity, but i opted to delete the Pinoy from it. Long time ago i saw this advertisement about Filipinos being known for their unique ingenuity. I was in elementary then and for a moment i wondered about that tv ad. Yesterday, such unique ingenuity was presented right before my very eyes. For almost a year i wasn't able to use my Sony Vaio VGN-CS series laptop because the assembly fan was broken. I couldn't use it since it shuts down from over heating because the fan couldn't supply enough air inside. My husband tried to clean it but it didn't work. I checked the sony technical support and found out that it's a vaio's factory defect and in fact there was a recall in America last year around April for replacement. I checked online for sellers of the specific fan assembly but it was very scarce until i found one which can be bought in the US. My sister-in-law ordered it but it never came and she just got a refund telling her that it's no longer available. But yesterday my husband and i decided to bring it to a mall where people are fixing cellphones and laptops as well. It took only about 50 minutes for the man to fix my laptop and now it's perfectly working well. He didn't replace the whole fan assembly. Rather he disassembled the fan assembly, took out the fan, replaced it with another fan from another fan assembly of a broken laptop, made a combination with the circuit and voila! If only we have trusted Pinoy ingenuity last year, i would have not missed my laptop so much. As the slogan says, "Yan and Pinoy! Maabilidad!"

Yeah! I like this one! Intelligence is different from being ingenious. Ingenuity most likely comes from applying common sense so it shouldn't be hard to tap on but usually it is the one often neglected. I do believe that being ingenuity is what you need to be successful I life. That is why I would rather be called ingenious than a genius! :)

i do believe that there is genius in every ingenuity. but a genius without ingenuity is nothing compared to one who is ingenious.

Yep! I have seen talented and very intelligent people who never really had success in their lives. They over relied on their talents and skills to push them on the top. What they are lacking is the sense of ingenuity which coupled with talent and skills is a surefire way to success. Others thought that being an intellect can get you far in this world, however, even if you are a genius but you don't know how to use it ingenuinely nothing will happen to your life. But more probably than not, a genius tends to be ingenious too. Haha!

Yes, we Filipinos are very resourceful. We can easily adapt to any situations if prompt aside from ingenuity which I guess is natural to us.Our country had been the recipients of mostly junk appliances from our neighboring countries. What they considered junk works again due to the inventive skills of Filipinos. It's really sad though that our government rarely appreciates or give support to their ingenuity. They have to be recognized first by other countries before we appreciate their talents.

Our government would usually claim lack of funds for the Filipino inventions as they don't trust that those inventions will become a success. They'd rather have the funds stolen by the officials rather than put it to a very good cause.

well, there's a lot of people who have the thought of being ingenuity but i would only feel proud when such ingenuity can be use to help the country in a permanent basis. i see our ingenuity being used by foreigners.

It's because our government doesn't support those people financially. Now that's another discussion!

Pretty amazing I must say. We Filipinos are really resourceful when it comes to life and even with technology. I think, we do have a high level of survival skills and that's what makes Filipino ingenuity really amazing. I'm proud to say that my dad is that type of person. He is always resourceful most of the time and makes incredible things out of junk. I'm happy that you laptop is working again. Enjoy!

Kudos to your dad! My husband is too but sometimes there are things beyond his capacity and it's better left to the experts.

Truly, Pinoys are really very good in a lot of things. They are what we call ma-diskarte and genius in their own way. We just have to believe in them! Mabuhay ang mga Pinoy! (Long live the Flipinos).

In this modern world in which technology is advancing rapidly, usually when a device gets spoiled it will be replaced by another new one. However there are still people who have a great number of skills to fix this objects. You've had good luck in finding someone who has repaired your laptop. Good for you and enjoy it again. :)

Thank you. That's why I'm happy to have found that person who can fix my laptop at a cheaper cost. If i bought a new fan assembly that's about $80 and it's only the assembly, it doesn't include the labor in installing it. But with that repairperson i only paid $25 and it was fast. My laptop is working perfectly well until now and we have tried leaving it on for 24 hours just to check if it overheats or not.

I know another example but it happened during the war. The guy needed to give money to a relative but the germans that time will check for money and take it. What the guy did was insert the money inside a flashlight. The money was never found as the german only switched the light and he thought it only contained batteries but the money was inside. There's a way if we just think but only hard times like the war force us to use creativity. It would be great if ingenuity is done every day.

Indeed. But not everybody has a talent for being creative. But I know there are a lot of people who know how to make use of what they have.
