My boyfriend failed to quit smoking for the 2nd time! I think he just can't quit, and i am sad because he was exerting effort and tried his best. But just like the first time, one craving just turn it down, again he was tempted and lighted a stick. After that one stick, everything was a disaster, and he failed. I hope there are smokers out there that is successful in quitting smoking, maybe you could share to me your experiences and tips on how to quit it. I would appreciate if you could suggest alternatives or a helpful aid to quit smoking. Thanks mylotters!

I'm not a smoker but I have friends and people that I am close with who have tried and failed countless number of times. There's the 'right' way of smoking and it isn't easy nor quick. One thing that I know is the fact, you cannot quit instantly. It should be slowly. Meaning, if he's smoking 10 sticks a day, he should start with just smoking 9 for several months, then go to 8 another several months, and so on. Just support him and don't be mad if he falters. Just let him do the decision on his own and should not only be because you want him to. Have a great MyLot experience today!

Thank you laydee for the respond. Yes, i have to be supportive of my BF. I would like to be there with him whenever there is crave so he can just offer myself for him to hug or kiss me than attempting to light a stick...hehehe

You know, i pity him, but what can i do? When I met my boyfriend, he was already smoking and we don't have any disagreements. It's just that sometimes, sometimes i already feel guilty not being a Nurse and not be help him quit his vice. Well, i just say, i don't know when will that stops...but for now, i am happy with our relationship, but i wish he is no longer smoking.

You don't need to be a nurse to help him quit. You just need to read and talk to him about it without being frustrated whenever he fails. Just be the girlfriend or partner that you really are.

It's really easier said than done. I should know. I used to be a non-smoker. I don't even know what I'm called now. Because I used to smoke. Then I stopped for more than a year. Then I started and stopped so many times already. That'ss why it's called an addiction I guess. We all know that it's bad. I'm planning (AGAIN) to stop smoking. I usually do it cold turkey. Hopefully, I will eventually kick the habit.

Hi miadsoriano! I think at this point in time that you already have kids, maybe you should try hard to quit smoking because its not healthy to smoke specially when kids are around in the house. Bad for them to catch the second hand/passive smoke, that is. I know you are trying, good luck to you. Say good luck for me too, to help my BF out.

I don't smoke in the house. I also don't smoke when my daughter is around. I smoke outside, and walk at least a block away to smoke. But I agree, that I should stop. If not for me, then for my kid. So I will always be there for her. Good luck to us all! :)

I think I read somewhere that it can take quite a few tries to actually manage to quit. One of my friends did manage to quit, but it was the fourth time she had tried. It's now been more than 2 years since she smoked, and she doesn't think she'll smoke again. She took each day one day and one craving at a time.

That is what happened to my boyfriend, he already had 2 attempts and i am very supportive of him too. I believe he can make it, its just that it wont be abruptly done. I know the willingness is there, with the right support from me and his family, and friends in the office. Gradually he is decreasing his sticks now and i hope for better results. :)

Yes Yingtang, there are a lot of things to do than smoking. Maybe we can go exercise together or whatever outdoor activity to divert its smoke craving, sometimes time doesn't allow, you know, busy, busy, busy....

my boyfriend quit smoking because he love me. I said to him, if you want quit, I don't want to be with you. After that he swear to me that he will quit. I am glad and happy with what he did. someone that smoking is quite hard to make them stop because they addicted with it but if you talk to him nicely about it, i think he will quit.if he stop smoking, its mean he love you so much.

That is interesting to know that you are the reason why he quit his vice. Wow, if it happen to me, i will be flattered! But in our case, i met my boyfriend when he was smoking already and i tolerated him for years now. I just could not afford to lose him, whether he smokes or not, i do love him:)

I am a smoker and it is really hard to quite. I did quite twice that was just because I was pregnant. When i was pregnant it was hard I still wanted one but I knew it would hurt my kids so I did not smoke. 2 weeks after I had them I started up again and been smoking every since. To me it is like a routine. When I drive, go on break, after eating. maybe you two should try different things to take his mind off of it.

Well, at least aisha, you still have that willingness to quit in you. My BF too has this attitude but sometimes this urge is keeping him doing back again and again, huh. Happy mylotting, have a nice day, too!
