Glastonbury Festival - Best Headliner This Year Was...

Erm, well over the 3 days I would say that Coldplay were the best performers and U2 had the best voice in Bono (he looked well fit..for a change)..so it's a tie between those two. I'm actually glad U2 played a load of their hits as it will probably introduce a few younger fans to their immense catalogue of tunes and I've always liked "Achtung, Baby!" so I'm glad they sang a few from that album. Coldplay were their usual supercool selves BUT I always think of that comment from Noel Gallagher of Oasis fame when he called them "a bunch of bedwetters" years ago! Mmmm, nice!
As for Beyonce I cannot comment on her as we switched her off after about 10 minutes. The reason? There was absolutely NO WAY those girls were playing their instruments on stage, they were miming and it wound me up loads. Yes, Beyonce was singing live (and there were backing singers as well) but, apart from that everything else was fake, so to speak. I don't really like that style of singing but each to their own! If Amy Winehouse got her act together and stopped abusing her body she would blow Beyonce away (pardon the pun) lol.
This isn't what Glastonbury is all about (faking it) and I'm actually glad it's not on next year as it's gone far too commercialised compared to how it used to be.
Have I ever been? Nope. Can't stand all that camping out and "slumming it" pretending to be hippies for 3 days. The cows don't like it either because they're couped up in sheds the whole time.
They can have that huge field to themselves now. However, at least it raises loads of cash for Greenpeace and Water Aid but I was a bit perturbed that neither seemed to be advertised anywhere on site..or did I miss something?

I do enjoy ColdPlay then now and feel for a long time to come. As for Beyonce, shame on her is right, why not put her best foot forward on this day, especially if she received earnings she and her group. Too bad, they could not be themselves, especially if it were for a cause.
I don't think I could be one of those either as 3 days, would be a bit too much for me to handle also. In fact I can attend a festival for a few hours and that would be it for me. lol
I did not see the Festival and or Event and basing my response based on what you said but it does seem unfair that any singer would not sing with their own voices. What a shame.

Coldplay and U2 are always good live and never fail to deliver, although I do prefer U2s earlier stuff. As for Beyonce that was a crime at a live festival
But she did look good. I think I seen something about Amy the other night that she was totally wasted at her last appearance. I have never been to Glastonbury even though it is one of the biggest festivals. I am the same as you camping out never really did it for me. I am not really a fan of open air gigs although I have been to some good ones, minus the camping out lol. The only festivals that I have been to and enjoyed was the Monsters of Rock back in the day but then it was just a one day affair, now it is Download and is a whole weekend thing. I am sure it did raise a lot of money for the causes and I think Beyonce should donate her fee

Aren't they supposed to be members of Greenpeace in order to appear? I know U2 and Coldplay are. They're supposed to play for nothing as well and I won't be happy if that's changed!
I've been to the Monsters of Rock Festival many times. I'm really pleased I saw AC/DC headline as I never got to see them after that (I had a thing for Angus Young at the time) and Marillion headlined one year with Fishy-babes, so, naturally I loved that gig as well...erm, who else? Iron Maiden were awesome one year and Whitesnake were cack another as they'd gone all twiddly with that Steve Vai who I can't stand.
Were ZZ Top headliners one year or were they on the same time as Marillion? I think the latter is true. I know Aerosmith kinda shared the headlining with Whitesnake..oh, and Bon Jovi headlined at one stage too and had the most amazing fireworks display. They also paid for the ace toilets in the hangar at the back and I remember moving from the queue and going into the lads' version..well, they're individual cubicles like the girls..no way was I gonna wet myself!
Aaah, those were the days and I'm sooo glad I've got my diaries to remember them by.

I was joking, just her being such a Diva and all lol.
I seen AC/DC headline, so amazing live. I did get to see them in the Point Depot over here as well, it is now an O2 arena, they seem to be taking over lol. I seen Maiden headline as well, my mate left early to get on the coach and he missed the fireworks lol.
Marillion and ZZ Top wew in 85 if I remember. I have a thing about public toliets at the best of times never mind porta loos
.
Yes always good to remember, I have lots of pics from those days, I was a nuisancee with a camera
but I am glad I was as one of our group is no longer with us and he is remembered in the pics

In those days I didn't take a bag anywhere..just used my jacket pockets for money and such-like. This is probably the reason why I didn't take my camera although at the Marillion gig I spent more time wandering off in a drunken state and rolling around in the mud with "Norm" to take any notice of photo opportunities. What a hussy!
I know what you mean about those portaloos, they're awful contraptions..so imagine my delight in "proper" toilets that Bon Jovi paid for in, I think 1987.
Bless 'em!

Beyonce shouted out at one point, "I've always wanted to be a Rock Star!"
What an insult to the likes of Tina Turner (who I've seen by the way) to say such a thing!
But..like you say, it's all for a good cause and I'm hoping Greenpeace have finished off paying for their new ship after that.

So many girls were playing their instruments on stage !What did people listen to ?Whether sing or play? What is more, there is lip-synching now.It totally make a fool of the audience.

Well, I noticed the guitars weren't "plugged in" for a start. There is a whole generation of people growing up watching so-called "live" acts and I really blame the talent shows for this, to a certain extent.
Give me a band with proper playing in it anyday!
