I am using McAfee on my laptop. It came for free with this laptop I purchased back in December. I like my new computer - an AspireOne D260, 1GB DDR3 memory, 250 GB storage and, best of all, its a mini laptop of 10'1 that I can carry everywhere with me, its very light and work well. But I find that McAfee run slow. I am not able to complete a full scan of my mini laptop in one evening. Actually, I never get through one full scan of my laptop with McAfee on. Before I was using Kaspersky and I was able to complete one full scan in one evening. Is it just me or McAfee doesn't do the job? I personally prefer Kaspersky. And you? Do you like to use McAfee?

I use McAfee. It is good but yes when it is running a scan my computer becomes slow. The webpage takes a long time to open or my laptop will hang. Sometimes i have to pause the scan so that my webpage will atleast open.

ALL antivirus software will slow down your computer depending on the settings you're using. The majority of the newer versions will cripple older computers because they need more RAM and processing power. I prefer to use AVG

Hi JulieSkyRock.. Yes, McAfee makes your computer run slow. Well it did mine. My subscription for the virus protection I was using ran out a few weeks ago and I went to WalMart and purchased McAfee because they were out of the one that I was using. And man did I make a mistake. From the time I installed McAfee my computer almost come to a complete stop. I could go in the kitchen, wash the dishes, or take a bath and then I might could come back and what ever I was doing would be loaded by then. I uninstalled McAfee with a years subscription left on it. I went online and found Vipre Anti-virus with 15 days free trail, installed it and now my computer is back to normal. I have recently purchased the Vipre and am well satisfied.

I use AVG, and that is a nightmare too! It is forever scanning and updating and when it is doing either, my lappy almost comes to a complete stop! I'm tearing my hair out some days trying to work on it! If I could find something better for free, I'll happily swap in a heartbeat!
