I Have A Missing Turtle

I'm having a strange day. I have 3 pet water turtles. I've had them for 2 years now.I go to feed them today and one is missing. I looked all over the gravel, the surface of the water and the turtle ramp that they sleep on. I didn't see it anywhere in the aquarium. I don't see it anywhere near the aquarium. I even looked under everything in my house. Even though I don't see how it could get out of the aquarium. I don't see how someone could take it either. I am getting to wonder if someone liked it and took it. I don't know. I hope if it is loose in my house that I can find it. You would think if it did get out of the aquarium that the fall would kill it.My aquarium is a 125 gallon aquarium and the stand makes it be off the ground to be about 6 foot tall.Pretty weird. I looked all over every where in the house just for in-case.

Hi marge. I wonder if you've already found your turtle by now. Anyway, that really is quite a puzzler. And 6 feet can be a really long fall for a turtle. Maybe he's just hiding in the aquarium? Or if he really did get out of it, maybe he's just under your furniture. How big is your turtle by the way? Have you checked under the fridge? You know what, this reminds me of a sad story of my lost cat. It's just recently that I lost one of my cats, a very smart and cuddly one :( One morning when I went out to feed them, I noticed that she was missing. I searched everywhere --- inside the house, in their sleeping area by the grotto, our neighbors' front porch where they sometimes sleep. When I couldn't find her I thought she was just around the neighborhood somewhere coz she was a very curious cat and wanders around a lot. Then later that day, our cleaning lady told me that their landlord killed a cat that morning because it ate one of their ducklings. I don't wanna tell you on how he killed it because it was really really nasty and it would only make me sad but let me say that him killing the cat was not the worst thing he did because he....(I'm sorry to tell you this) cooked it and ate it! :( :( :( I know! :( Really barbaric! I'm still not over it until now. I've thought so many times of reporting him to the police but sad to say that the system here in my country about animal rights is really not active in implementation. If only I have the money to sue the man, I really would, because I'm sure it would take A LOT of money to do so. I'm really really sad until now and I really really miss my sweet Abby.

Yeah, some people eat dogs here. It's really sad! It's not that rampant anymore, though. I guess it's because of my country's economic situation and low lifestyle that animals rights have been neglected because the needs of the population are met first.

That's good that it doesn't happen as much now. It amazes me how good a lot of people from your country speak English. A lot of Filipinos I've met know lots of different languages. It is hard to learn how to speak other languages. It shows how smart people are from your country. I only know how to speak English. I've been told that a lot of real old people don't but most people their do and they learn English as soon as they go to school. I wish American schools were that way and taught Americans Spanish at least as soon as they started school and continued it until graduation.Thank you for replying back!

Thanks! What you said are really flattering :) The English language is a part of our curriculum in school. It is taught to us since kindergarten. It is our primary medium of instruction and we have like an "English Only Policy". It's kind of annoying though coz we get to pay 1 peso per incident if ever we get caught not speaking English. It's a good thing that we were taught English but in my opinion I think it's just too much that most of us have already lost their Filipino identity and are already pretending to be smart just by speaking English. Well, I guess there are some disadvantages... I heard from our elders that Spanish was also taught in their schools before. But that's not true anymore nowadays. I guess the government decided to only focus on English because it is much widely used.

It's probably dug itself down into the gravel, turtles are weird like that sometimes. Once my turtle actually ran away...I dare say that the "slow" idea is a myth! Literally in a minute he was completely gone. Do you have other pets? That could explain his disappearance if he did make his way out of the tank. I hope you find him, good luck!

Nope, I never did find him. I lost him outside, though, so I imagine he either found his way to the pond outback or...well, you know :S Welcome, and you too!

I would double check inside the tank. Maybe it got caught under something in the tank. But is it's not there then I would say you have a case for Sherlock Holmes.
