That is the market force on working, and we should embrace it. Although there will be only two biggest cell phone companies in the market, more likely, AT&T is allowed to purchased T - Mobile, the smaller player such as tracfone, metro PCs, virgin Mobile etc.... will take over those price - sensitive customers in the market. To better serve the customer, and regard their price needs, AT&T finally roll out this $50 plan for unlimited talk, and text message, without contract for customers. If you need internet access, there will be $25 additional fee required. So, the option is yours. What do you think of it?

Well, I was waiting for this to happen with the big companies. I feel that because of they way things are now, people are not looking to spend hundreds per month on a phone. So, I believe that there will be more of these price wars and eventually there will be a basic fee for whatever phone you get. And also there will be no more contracts. It's the contracts that irritate the people the most. It's not fair to be locked in to something when you want the right to change up. Take people like me, I have an iPhone and I have to wait 2 years before I can upgrade. Not fair. I do however but the new ones when they are out. I should have the ability to just change up when I want without penalty.

If they do away with contracts, our cell phone service will cost more because of taxes and regulatory fees. As I understand it, the prepaid phones do not have the same high taxes for merely using the phone and airwaves the contract phones have.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why the taxes are almost as much as the phone service. I had Verizon for years, and it was fine as long as I did not use it. When I did away with my landline, my cell phone bill almost doubled from the taxes and fees. Why do our phones need to be taxed like that? Why don't we just pay a basic flat tax instead?
My friend has an unlimited plan for $69.99 and with the taxes he pays just over $100.00 a month for the privilege of using a phone.

It is quite unfair they won't allow you to upgrade your phone. I wonder why they don't, especially if you have been a customer for several years.

Is this a prepaid system? If it is prepaid I am guessing it is 50.00 a month which will not be too bad. Right now my credit is slightly bad and I need to raise it so my husband and I can buy a used car that is new enough so we will not have any problems. We have a 15 year old car and it keeps on giving us trouble. When will this be available?
thank you

It probably is, I just heard it from the newspaper, and the business section, they promote this plan to people who is not fancy about those smart phone, or high end phones. So, this plan can be economic in comparison to second - tier of communication providers.

The main problem I find with all of these servers like AT&T, Boost, Etc. is that the phones are expensive, and there is nothing you can do except buy a New one when one is not working anymore. For me this is not worth it. And since I am with Sprint and it is like $79 I think now for unlimited with Internet etc. I do not consider this a Great deal. But if you cannot have a contract I guess this would work, even though I have seen cheaper plans out there.

I have been debating prepaid cell phones. My SO is on a family plan with Verizon and every month something happens with the bill, the family gets charged overages or something crazy. I did buy my teenager a prepaid from straight talk and he had to keep up with the bill after I bought the phone and such. It has worked out for him with unlimited talk/text & web. If I get another cell phone it will probably be through Straight Talk. Oh yes and I have also had comparison reviews with family members concerning the prepaid cells in our area. My cousin used Boost Mobile for a long time but the service reception was terrible in our area. My father used Cricket for a long time but his service reception was also terrible. Straight Talk seems to work well in our area so if I get a prepaid it will be with Straight Talk.

Since it does not include the internet, I will not even consider it. I have Metro PCS and love it because $50.00 covers everything. I just wish they would come out with a new phone, I am not liking the 4g's they currently have.
Now if the internet package was an additional 5-10 a month I might switch.
