Well i am from India and here it is a big trend.... Here even people who are adult enough do the same... people here have competitions with each other for flying kites... like whose kite has reached the highest and all that sort of things... Girls are not too much attracted towards it but boys and even men are too much attracted with it.... They feel very relaxed when they do so well when i am free and feel happy i get out of my room and look at the sky and see a number of beautiful kites... very nice... very colorful and so many .... I love to see them at times

Well, in my country a kite is not valued as a ritual item and I've also never heard that somebody would use it for fishing. However, kids like to play with this toy. I also recall myself flying the kite on a hill when I was young. I also remember, that sometimes my father joined me and we flew the kite together, these were very special moments.

As a young boy, I loved to fly kites. In India, during the kite flying season, one tries to cut the string of the other kite that is flying with one's own kite and that is a sport that is still popular in some parts of India, though most kids have moved to different forms of entertainment today.
I still fly kites occasionally, just to show my children how it is done, but my children can't fly them and are not interested in flying them, only sometimes in watching their father and others flying kites.

My brother used to take me and my sister to a spot where where played with kites, and they were expensive and modern kites that were very fast in wright hands. It was fun but he wasn't happy when you crashed a kite to the ground and broke a part of it. Just a few days ago i watched a fishing show i think it was called hooked and i saw the kite fishing technique you mentioned. Incredible and it's been around for ages and it's almost unbelievable way of fishing.
