Hi, My wife is worried about my son's height due to genetic. Doctor asked us to wait till 4 years to see his growth. She expects to have at least 40 inches now. But my son has grown to 36 inches only. So we want to take pro-active steps to increase his height. Can I give small and easy exercise to my son to grow faster? If so, can you suggest any such exercises? If this is not recommended, what else I can try to improve his height? Thanks.

My son was very short, and he was very fat.I did not put him any diet,i still give him healthy food to eat. But has he started to get older,he started to get taller .Just let him play a lot,so that he can get more exercise that can help as well. Because my son is a very active child, give him fruits and vegetable and play a lot to keep active.

I too don't recommend any diet control to children. This is the age they should consume more and play more. Thanks.

Hi, over the past few years, i have been looking for height enhancers or food supplements, i think i found a couple of examples but I haven't tried it yet. Ok, i know your wondering why i said that. I just to start the conversation. Okay, first of all your son is less than 4 years old, if your wife is worried that your son's height is not increasing, please tell her, that, for now its fine. Every individual has its own unique characteristics, type, built.. etc... You are correct though, about the genetic trait. We cant change it. Its embedded to us, if we really are small then lets face it. But for your son, you just have to be patient about his height increase. If your wife is worried that much, and if shes basing about her height increase when she was a kid, then please kindly tell her that it is really common to girls to grow much faster than boys through puberty period. Now, on your discussion, you are seeking for advice about exercises that can help to increase your sons height, right? I think, it is not really appropriate for your son to exercise that much, you dont have to worry because they are preschoolers.. they have a very good metabolism, and because i think the height increasing exercises that you are able to read in the internet are not really applicable for children.. plus i think its not 100% guaranteed to take effect. The only thing that i can suggest for both of you as parents is that right now just be patient to with your sons growth. Provide hi adequate amounts of rest, right food source (especially food that is rich in vit D {which synthesizes calcium}), In the morning at lease expose your son outside of your home play for a while, the time should be like 7-9am in the morning. that will be good for the skin. (exposing to the sun in the morning helps release Vit D in the Body). And of-course The number One thing to do for your son, this is the best and most approved thing to do, is Support, Care, and give him tender Love, for you are parents and he is your son. its all that matters anyway. i hope you like my post reply. Hoping to help you again some time.. Ciao!!! (",)

I think the milk is very important for children. They are full of calcium which is good for the bones. And the children need some sunshine because it can create vitamin D and it is also good for the bones. Besides the balanced diet, the exercises are also essential to grow higher. Jumping, swimming, playing basketball etc. also make your grow higher faster. Last year my son started to learn swimming in the swimming class during the summer vacation. His growth was obvious after that. I love China

I don't think that there are any actual exercises specifically which will increase his height. However, as long as you keep him healthy I would think that he should be perfectly fine in the future. By that, I mean make sure he gets a healthy diet with lots of calories, and also make sure that he gets exercise to ensure that his muscles and bones are in the best possible state that they can be. My friend had growth problems, and he was put on steroid injections. Although these are rather painful at the time, he is 20 now and is a normal height for his age and isn't much shorter than most of his friends. So, even if your son is a little bit shorter than other children, there is always hope for the future if the situation doesn't improve enough.

Hi GemmaR, Steriod injection is final option in my consideration. But I don't have much information on this. At which age your friend has used this injection? And what is the recommended age to use this injection? I am also concerned on its negative effect. Do it have any negative effects? Thanks..

Proper sleep and good nutrition is really the most important thing. Also, some children are very short, and then become tall during puberty. All through childhood, but especially puberty, insist on a good amount of sleep and healthy food for your son. Also, your wife needs to make sure that she is not communicating through her words, tone of voice, or attitude that there is anything "wrong" with your son because he is a little short for his age. There is nothing wrong with being short and many people are short, but very healthy and intelligent and talented. If your son grows up thinking he is not good enough, he will have more problems than a short stature.
